I got a quote through with a 6% increase.

I ran my identical details through their website and was quoted more than 20% less (plus lower apr for payment by installments)

I rang CS - they told me this was quite correct - what a rip off - there is nothing stopping me from cancelling and taking the new quote instead. It seems like a real slap in the face for customer loyalty especially as it is obviously much cheaper for them to process a renewal than new business...

Its a common event.

However, you have to be wary that although you can sign up with some providers on their "new customer" price, if they spot it, they can take the discount away. I don't know if the Royal Sun Alliance/More Than policy would do that or not as I rarely find them come out top on my list.
