Advice on water meter

Options
Hi

We have just received our yearly payments for the water and it is going up £2 a month to £36, I know this is probably a lot less than other areas but wondered if we would be better with a meter.

I know it's disgusting but the kids share baths, we always use the shower, the dishwasher goes on once a day and the washer isn't used everyday, we also wash the car using a bucket, one thing which would have to stop is watering 2 small vegetable beds but we should be able to get a water butt for this.

Also we have an outside tap which is sometimes used by neighbour and friends kids in the summer - would there be a way to stop this.

Would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Use Page 3 of this booklet to work out your annual usage: http://www.bristolwater.co.uk/pdf/customerService/yourBill/UnderstandYourWaterUsage.pdf

You then need to find out how much your water company charges per cubic metre and the annual charge. You also need to find out if your sewerage would be based on the meter readings if you are with a different company for this.

If you aren't sure of the charges, post back with the name of your water company and some kind person here will find it for you!

We are with Northumbrian water, not sure if this helps.
    Thanks

    They charge:

Water: £30.90 per year plus 91.82p per cubic metre
Sewerage: £68.40 per year plus 87.52p per cubic metre

If you can work out how much water you use (with the leaflet I've linked to above), then I'll work out what your annual bill (and monthly payment) should be.
