ebay express - what do you think?

I got a nice big letter today from ebay asking me if I'd like to sell on their new sales channel, it's for business users and is an alternative to the usual ebay shops, it's got to be all new stuff (one of their selling points is NEW & NOW) and the payment is gathered by ebay before the seller gets to know about it. It's basically a way for small traders to trade on line like the big multiples. Sellers have to offer returns and 3 day dispatch.
With this in place the main ebay will have less of the big shop traders cluttering up the searches.

I had a quick look at the link you provided. It looks quite good. No extra fees as well which is nice of them
I don't qualify for eBay express but even as a buyer it has benefits. -->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

It's not for me either because my ebay shop is for antique and vintage china etc so by it's nature it's not new - but I think it will be really good for the sellers who meet the criterior.0

The only think I object to is that ebay have changed their shop prices & visability. So to me it has been done to push shop sellers on to ebayexpress.
Althought they say their is no extra costs the shop prices will probably still be getting increased .
I could qualify in one account if I tweeked it a bit but Im not going to bother.I think ebay has too much of a bad name for scammers and it has been too widely reported for this to be successfull. I unerstand this may be trying to erradicate this but look at powersellers etc it has never worked in the past. I personally feel that this is at the cost of the smaller shop sellers at the moment.
I especally dont like their refund policies which could cost sellers dear.0 -

lol. I've got one or two things to say to express my opinion on these criteria0 -
I think that the criteria is OK - the sellers that they are aiming for a probably people that have real shops on the high street but would like to trade nationwide.
If you had a high street shop selling, say, artists equipment - it's all small and easy to post and you'd like to expand the business. You'd need to get yourself a website and a designer to set it up with shopping carts and checkout and all that gubbins, someone is going to say that this is all dead easy to do but not for me, I wouldn't know where to start.
Then you'd hope that someone would see your site when they google for paint or canvas, you'd have to take credit cards and pay a percentage to the bank. With the H/S shop you'd take something back if the customer requested it - I can't see how it ebay express isn't perfect for someone like that?0 -
Do you have to have an ebay shop to register as a business on ebay?0
-
I'm pretty certain that you don't need to have shop to register as a business but I would have thought that most business users would have one.
