I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this, but we're trying to save estate agents fees, and market our house ourselves. Its a reluctant sale of a well loved home.
As part of the process, I've put a web site together. I'd be grateful if anyone who has experience of this type of thing could give some feedback to help improve it.

Those dissolving squares on each picture on the front page give me a headache. They should also show all your photos in a slide show rather than just the outside.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks Silvercar. I've edited the post to remove the spam.
Good point about the slideshow. Theres other pics of the inside on the various pages.0 -
Do you have permission from M&S etc to use their badges on your website? They may not wish to be connected in any way with your property..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Well there's a few things I can think of: namely, how is anyone going to find this website? I think your pictures are good but would do as silvercar says about the squares. Have you got a board up outside? Where else are you advertising it? I'm just a bit concerned that there probably aren't many people with that kind of money googling randomly for converted chapels.
What's your price like compared to similar properties? How did you arrive at that price? Is it reasonable to expect you'll get close to it? I do think you need some kind of additional advertising to be honest.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0 -

Hi,
The biggest issue I found was that a new browser window was opened when I clicked on one of the links on the LHS for the first time (although links from the new window didn't then open another new window). Closing all those windows got quite tedious after a while.
You can configure your html to open a link in the same window.

Perhaps I missed them as my computer is blocking the pictures but I can't see any room dimensions. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Yup, room dimensions and floorplan would be helpful. Also the menu doesn't seem to be in a logical order. I'd bunch all the rooms together first and then have the 'views', 'location', 'walks', bit at the end0

Hi there!
You have a list of rooms in your house, but no sizes and there aren't any pictures of the bedrooms.
Also there seems to be two pictures of the family bathroom that are the same. How about a picture of the en-suite/other bathroom (you say there are 2 bathrooms).
One of the lounge pictures seems to be of a window with a neighbouring property in view, you may want to drop this (it's also very dark).
Is there a garden? If so why no pictures of it? And why all the pictures of your garden furniture?
You say there a re 3 nearby schools, why not add links to their websites so that families from outside the area know which ones they are and which Ofsteds to look up.
Also like others have said how are you going to get people to look at the property?
Good luck with everything

Good suggestions here off people! I've just had another look, I'm not sure about the photo of the bath-it's a bit close up. Completely agree with everyone re room sizes and more relevant photos.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0
