:rotfl:I meant the design, why ruin the perfectly simple system of a separate vac pump, (which I admit is the only type I've worked on, pugeots, early vx typically), by banging it straight on the back of the alternator????
No don't tell me the answer I think I can guess

Yes were has shruggy gone, saves the old finger endsI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I also have an Astra Diesel 1.7 DTI on 05 plate. I have had this since new without previous problems.
I have recently been plagued with a fault in which the engine still runs but revs highly and no power to the accelorator pedal. I had this diagnosed at a local garage who told me its a sensor on the pedal and a new one would be required. I had this done and the fault continued but very intermitant. The garage owned up and told me they were baffled and give me a refund on the labour only. I took it to Vauxhall who got it to fault and told me the ECU needed replacing. This is £900 for the part and the total cost would be £1080.00 These electronic vehicles seem more trouble than the older makes and cost a fortune to repair when the faults can be diagnosed. Im going to get shut of this now and never buying another Astra.0
