according to this it does have the servo pump on the alternator.
So technically it could only be the pump as the alternator is a dry unit. Good post tho' GS never come accross that layout before, (and don't much like the idea).
:T I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

the alternator is sealed, the pump runs independently off the back of the alternator and can be split. i remember doing one on an old nissan vannette the screws were solid and a right pain to loosen, they didn't use hex heads it was philips headed screws and wouldn't budge without a fight.
most recon places will not take the pumps off for this reason, they usually do them as complete units....work permit granted!0 -

theres no need,really no need.:p
i don't think both are connected, i think they either got the diagnosis wrong or the ecu is a seperate issue altogether.
even if the oil did leak into the alternator it shouldn't have caused the ecu to fail. oil being non conductive and all that....work permit granted!0 -

yes, it can only be the pump, but it may be easier to find a whole alternator unit with the pump. the alternator contains no oil.
it may look like this....work permit granted!0 -
