Recruitment Consultants Ignoring Emails

I just want to correct a misconception that you seem to have.
I have worked for 3 agencies now and I have never in my life heard of an agency that targets consultants on "getting people onto the books" That would be a complete waste of time - time that could be spent on the phone getting in new business.
Oh and maybe they actually aren't receiving your emails, we don't receive a lot from people who send them. Usually because they can't spell!!!

Truegho, you're not alone. The strange thing is I signed up with an agency 5 years ago and they phoned me the day they got my CV and interviewed me and I got a job shortly after. This time I have more qualifications and experience and the same recruitment agency ignore me. I haven't had any luck from any other agencies either. I have seen loads of jobs advertised for recruitment consultants and I think I might apply.0

WOW -You must have a fantastic spam filter that can distinguish candidates that have a spelling mistake on their CV or application.
BTW - how do you know when people have sent applications with spelling mistakes via email if you have not ........................ received them??:rotfl:0 -
sexki11en, I bet the consultants get loads of emails from applicants and I bet it gets a bit boring looking through them all. Is there any way I could get around that and get noticed? I know I get email addresses right because I copy/paste them from the job adverts.0

Because when they phone us to check wheter it has come through, we double check the spelling with them and they've got it wrong.
It's not rocket science is it?

You know what, I'd love to be able to advise you, but sadly there are a lot of agencies out there who just do ignore e mails.
All I can say is when you send over your CV, try and make sure you have adaped it for the role you are applying for. Make sure if you have the skills & experience they are looking for that it's clearly on your CV. I am recruiting for a particular role at the moment and have to assess about 10 CV's in 5 minutes as to suitability. If I don't see the relevant experience immediately, unfortunately, I move onto the next CV.
Sometimes it turns out the CV's are just badly written and the candidate does have the experience but didn't put it on their CV, or it wasn't clear enough. Unfortunately - not my problem. I simply don't have time to speak to every single person who applies to find out more.
Hope that helps a little?

"We don't receive a lot from people who send them".....I've read that sentence a few times and it still doesn't make any sense to me !
"Usually because they can't spell" is that the general perception of agency staff towards prospective candidates or is it just your personal opinion ?
SK also open admits on another thread that she places job ads in her window that do not currently exist as she can't be having an empty window.
"recuitment consultants" ??? More like sales people IMHO
Was I the only one who had to look up the word "mendacious" ?No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
But you stated that they did not come through because of their spelling.

Oh dear!
Dpassmore, that's not as bad as a job advert I saw that was written by a recruitment consultant. The spelling was so bad it looked like a kid had written it.0 -
