scottish power - some praise as well as a question
Options
I just entered my meter reading online and went through the process as normal. Whilst doing so I noticed that I may have been putting the readings in incorrectly following a change in my meter back in June.
So, I called SP and asked them if they could put my mind at ease or sort the problem for me. Straight away the person at the other end noticed that since September (when my fixed product expired) I'd been on the wrong tarriff. I have not been paying a control rate, rather a night, day secondary and day primary.
I'm an economy 7 customer with storage heaters - it's been cold in Scotland, I figured the higher bills were because I'd had heating on.
My problem now is that whilst I can see what I have been paying, I'm unable to figure out from their website what I should have been paying on the basis of a Control, Night and Day rate.
I know that they are going to tell me everything, work it all out and get back to me within a week or so, but being a sad person, I'd kinda like to try and work out for myself if I am going to get a refund, or if I'm going to end up owing money?
anyone able to offer assistance?
to think though, if I hadn't spotted this because I think I've made a mistake, I've possibly been paying a lot more than I should have been.

well it's now been two weeks since this mistake was spotted -and whilst at the time I was pleased with this, I am still waiting on them actually correcting and backbilling anything.
Anyone any useful suggestions as when I just called them again, the girl at other end of the phone didn't understand what I was saying or what the previous notes said.
It would appear they are not so quick to correct mistakes in their favour....0 -
Put in a complaint.
I had to, to correct a similar mistake they had made.Know the difference between what you WANT and what you NEED. :T0 -
made complaint last night via their website
response today implies that I've not been paying them enough and they are now investigating and will get back to me.
If it ends with them telling me I owe them more money, I ain't going to be happy.
I don't see that this can be the case when comparing my like for like bills the usage was similar and amounts paid far less. The response from the person who got my complaint whilst telling me it's being looked at, has actually got my back up a little more as it feels like I'm getting the blame for their mistake.
We shall see what happens next I guess...0 -
The same happened to me, well Mr Ada3050 it must be that you are using more power during the day!
I went from £146 in credit to £666 in debit in the space of 48hrs.
Keep at them they should sort it out, if they argue ask them to send someone round to check the meter readings.Know the difference between what you WANT and what you NEED. :T0
