  • It sounds like you had a lovely weekend :D.

I put about 6 items of clothing on Ebay. I need to have a clear out because I don't even wear about half of the things in my wardrobe. I've made a start putting some things in a bag for the charity shop. I will try a few things on Ebay and if they sell, great, but if not they are going to the charity shop before I lose the motivation for a clear out.

My credit card bill came and it was £1k for August , so that has focused my mind on stopping the spending spree!

In other non-MSE news(!), I finally admitted that the home exercising was not happening so I have joined a gym again. A different one to before which is much closer so hopefully I will actually go. It has a lovely swimming pool and it seems more geared up for people of all abilities so it should suit me better.

It is going to be tough to meet my £1k overpayment target this month, but I will have a go and get MSing and Ebaying.

  • It's great when you start having a clear out of things you don't wear/use etc isn't it - I always find it quite liberating!
I hope the ebay bits are selling well for you too.

Yikes - £1K! Sure you'll have that sorted soon enough though. Ours has about £300 on it at the moment which will be dealt with soon enough, so I'm not worrying about it.

Well done on joining the gym. A nice swimming pool is always a plus too, I wish there was a nice one round here but unfortunately they're not great. I used to swim every evening after work before I moved a few years ago, I'd love to get back into that habit.

Good luck with the overpayment this month!

  • This morning has started quite well (apart from not sleeping great again...). I advertised two items on the staff notice board which we have decided to get rid of of, and both sold within half an hour, making us £180! :D We could've got more for them, but we needed to make room quickly as it is likely we shall be having some building work done soon and need the space. one is a big, bulky and extremely heavy piece of gym equipment which wasn't getting much use :o so I'm glad to see it gone.

£30 of the £180 will go as a cash wedding gift for one of the weddings we're attending this month, £20 we'll save for some drinks for the wedding and £130 will go towards a shed which we need to buy very soon. You see, my wonderful parents have stepped in and suggested they get our garage converted for us before the baby arrives. It is something we wanted to do in the grand future plan but obviously couldn't afford it for a few years. Despite trying to persuade them otherwise and feeling terribly guilty for the expense, they are insisting they pay the 5k it's going to cost as they feel it's such a good price. I'm just so blessed to have such wonderful, thoughtful and loving parents, I feel so bad that they are paying for it but they are adamant that it is the right thing to do.

Hence, the need to clear some space in the garage and buy a shed pretty sharpish...
  • £180 is fab :) and sounds like a nice quick sale.

I am puzzled now about the garage conversion. What are you converting it into?

I have a few watchers on the nicer items of clothes on Ebay so hopefully at least some will sell next weekend.

I should have a relatively quiet day today. I have a couple of coffee shops and a clothes shop to MS. I have what looks like a health screen at the gym, no doubt to tell me that I am unfit and unhealthy :rotfl:

Do you know when the new bed arrives? Sounds like it can't be soon enough.

    Have a nice day!

  • Hi Chocs

Garage is being converted into a small utility room and a larger extra bedroom/playroom - it's currently just used to store 'stuff' and is a waste of space. As ours is a new build house, the rooms are not huge and we really struggle with storage of items like books - we have them in nearly every room at the moment! So the plan is to get a wall of bookcases in there and finally have a mini library! :D

My Dad found a shed on promotion for £120 inc delivery, from £180, so we ordered that to be delivered on Friday. Apparently it is a bit of a nightmare to build but once it's up it's fine. The money we raised from selling the gym stuff has more than paid for that, with £30 left over to use towards expenses at this wedding we're going to in a couple of weeks.

The new bed arrived yesterday and it's wonderful! We both slept like logs, but struggled to get out of it this morning!

£3 made on a survey yesterday, I see I have another 'points' on to do today in my inbox.

    How did the gym go?

  • The garage conversion sounds fab and mini library sounds very posh :D Hope you get the shed sorted out OK this weekend.

The gym assessment went fine, thanks. I was off their scale in terms of healthiness/fitness, but I thought the results were OK. Unfortunately, I have not felt great this week so not a lot of activity going on, but hopefully I will feel better this weekend. There is a class I want to try tomorrow morning so will make every effort to get there.

I see it's another free listing weekend on Ebay so I'll maybe try and get a few more things on there. Not that I have any bids on last week's yet :o so hoping for the last minute Sunday bids to come in.

  • Good news and not so good news today - the sofas are finally paid off, so that's one more debt gone! :j The not so good news is that the bank account is not looking good at all... :( the wedding we went to at the weekend was much more costly, in terms of drinks, than we could've imagined. We really limited them, obviously I was not drinking anyway, but eve soft drinks were extortionate! Hubby had to get a few rounds in as we had quite a few bought for us, so the money he had put aside for the occasion didn't last long. We had to use the card and pay for some out of the bank account.:(

I was also fuming this morning, to discover that the hotel had overcharged us by £108.80!!! I had a feeling this would happen - they messed up big time with the bookings before we went and I wasn't entirely convinced they'd sorted it out correctly despite their assurances. I have phoned them this morning and they'll 'look into it' today and call me back late this afternoon - apparently.:mad::mad:

Apparently the hotel have just refunded the £108.80 they owe me. I shall wait a few days to see if it turns up on the credit card statement before calling them back.

Today I have printed off another voucher for a free DVD rental which we will use for tonight's entertainment.

We also need to get hubby's suit dry cleaned tonight for next weekend's wedding - there's an offer on at a local supermarket for £7 suit dry cleaning which we'll take advantage of again.

This week, I need to sort out and list all of the baby stuff. My wonderful parents came armed with loads of baby gear when they came up so I'm pretty sure we have everything we need now - more or less. I just need to make a list of it all, put stuff in appropriate places and tidy up that room so we can actually get in it!

Today I enquired about the Childcare Voucher scheme at work for the future - I think they used to do this but not sure if it is still ongoing. Fingers crossed it is as I don't think we'll get much via tax credits! Not sure how we're going to afford childcare if this scheme is no longer in existence.

I'm also going to see if we can do another 'music magpie' list - but that requires a lot of persuasion to hubby to get rid of lots of cds/dvds (even though he never uses them!).

  • Hurrah to the sofas being paid off :T. That will be good to have some slack in the budget from next month.

I hope the hotel overpayment has reappeared in your account.

I haven't been around much because I am on some new medication and feel absolutely wiped out by 8pm, so none of my usual up 'til midnight routine. And I haven't even got the excuse of being pregnant!

I only sold a couple of things on Ebay last weekend. With the free listing, I thought I might as well have another go this week. I have one bid and watchers on all items so more hopeful of sales this week. The plan is they will counterbalance the money I have been spending on new clothes :D.

Other than that, I have been plodding along.

    Are you still feeling OK?

  • Sorry to hea you've been feeling so tired Chocs, I hope that is a temporary thing for you.

Yes, the hotel payment appeared in my account, thank goodness. As did the money for the relative's hotel room we paid for for ease of booking - the family member transferred the money for that yesterday.

I'm feeling fine thanks, 20 weeks scan was yesterday and all is well and as it should be. :D
