Glastonbury tickets - in return for a bit of work!

Options
No good for me, but if you fancy some free Glastonbury tickets in return for 3 shifts of bar work then Shelter will profit and you get to go

BG's - apologies if this is in the wrong place but think this will go quickly!

Missed out on Glastonbury tickets? You could still be there if you volunteer for Shelter!
Glastonbury is the biggest festival of the summer and its 40th year looks set to be the best yet, with an amazing line-up and fantastic atmosphere! Tickets are completely sold out, but we’re offering you the chance to work in the bar areas for Avalon Bars and Events.
You don’t need previous experience and you’ll be fully trained. All we ask is that you work three eight hour shifts, leaving you free the rest of the time to see your favourite bands and have fun!
Avalon makes a donation to our work with homeless and badly housed people in exchange for your help. And you’ll get:
§ Free entry to Glastonbury
§ Free coaches from main pick up points*
§ Secure, private camping area with showers and toilets
§ Meal tickets for each shift
§ Subsidised drinks at the exclusive Avalon camping bar.
Sound like fun?

You will have a great time. I live 5 miles from the site and worked on a catering stall there every year from 1990 to 2000. My grown up children go every year. Even working you will enjoy it :j

For anyone who missed out (Shelter have now filled their places) then you can also volunteer to work for Oxfam. Details are on the Oxfam website: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/get_involved/stewarding/index.html

Applications open on Monday 15 March.

Oxfam provide stewards for a range of festivals, so even if you can't or don't want to go to Glastonbury then you might find another that you like. This year's festival list is:

    Beautiful Days
    Bestival
    The Big Chill
    Camp Bestival
    Creamfields
    Download
    Glade
    Glastonbury
    Latitude
    Leeds
    Reading
    RockNess
    Shambala
    Summer

They are looking for stewards for all the above festivals and at some of the festivals also need campaigners (if you have the gift of the gab) and shop workers to man the festival Oxfam shop (only open to existing Oxfam shop workers I believe).

I've been a steward for Oxfam for 5 years and would heartily recommend it. It is a great way to make friends, even if you go to the festival on your own, and the hot showers and free food are the icing on the cake.
  • Thanks for the info! I'm going to try and do this, was supposed to be going to Glastonbury last year but my friends dropped out so I couldn't. I would love to go this year especially as Muse are headlining!

  • I have been a volunteer for over twenty one years at various events and one thing is certain is that ' you have to be fast ' as vacancies go very fast.

I have a list of Companies who may still be after volunteer's

    http://www.wbc-team.co.uk/fest-jobs.html

please note I have no connection to any of the Companies so if you want details you need to contact them.

    good luck
