Lol.. oh please give over with the ridiculas turned round replys..you know damn well what i was getting at and you know it..there is nothing 'mentally' wrong with the cats.
Their 'may' be a new cat as we have spotted one but apart from that nothing else we can think of..jeez this site sucks at times.

Actually I haven't a clue what you were getting at. You won't accept there is anything physically or mentally wrong with the cats but your cats are still inappropriately toileting. We've suggested a couple of litter trays and you won't accept that either. Do you think the cats are doing it deliberately to wind you up?

Errrm can I just pop in and suggest something.. My mum used to foster cats for over 20 years and I have lived around cats all my life, not that this gives me carte blanche on how to own cats. But I do know that sometimes cats can do something that is totally off balance, as in your case, for absolutely no reason at all. They can be fine for years and then do something weird. Regarding the cat litter trays, I know you say this is a no no with you, but maybe if you just had the one down and then gradually move it to the back door so that they go out eventually and have learnt this is the place to go.

My two cats have a tray, I decided that even if they did go out I would still have a tray in whatever. To tell you the truth I don't really notice it being there and the two cats are so much happier with it. Although the little horrors don't go outside at all, well the older one does but that is only for 10 mins..the little one she just sits and watches the world go by quite happily.

Have you spoken to your vet about the different behaviour, maybe they can come up with something that has been missed..

something is definitely bothering them, cats down soil their own home unless they are upset or ill. i am currently trying to help rehome a cat cat who, after 6 years, has started weeing everywhere - the trigger? the owner knocked out a hole in wall from her lounge to her back garden and put in big glass french doors - seems this little cat is getting upset whenever she sees a strange cat in the garden. shame the owner thinks more of the doors than the cat though.

i would also suggest providing a litter tray, your cats obviously prefer to soil indoors at the moment, probably feeling safer for whatever reason but they don't have anywhere to do their business - they have no choice but to soil in places you don;t want them to soil - at least give them the choice of using a tray and pleasing you. my mum always had a litter tray in the porch for them 'just in case', despite her 4 cats being very much outdoors cats.

    good luck

Please reconsider regarding the litter tray. :)

My cat is an outdoor cat but has one to use when she needs to. She doesn't have a cat flap so relies on us to let her out.
99% of the time she goes outside but there are occasions when she's not happy to go out there and will actually come back in to use the tray. I don't know what it is that puts her off toileting outside but one day I saw that just as she was about to go two pheasants (we live on a farm) came walking up and that stopped her. She ran back to the house and went straight to use her tray when I opened the door for her.

For most of the time the tray is there unused but I wouldn't dream of taking it away

Ok reading back..in post 4 i asked whether telling him off for doing it was a good or bad thing? from post 6 onnwards it seems to be a bandwagon of people jumping on having a go at how we mistreat our cats?? (not all just some)

For the record AGAIN i have no problem with them pooing in our garden i was just asking WHY they would suddenly start doing it as haven't before (6 months for the kitten and never for the cat)

I agree the litter tray is an easy solution BUT i do not want one in the house..the cats both of them ask to go out so why the need? of course this may stop the pooing in the house etc but i am not convinced it is the best way. For example..all doors were shut last night..i watched the kitten wander round which usually means he's up to something (as if not he's asleep!) and then come to me for me to open the door..he went out and i watched him jump over to next door..dh sneaked upstairs and watched him wee in their garden which he does. As far as im aware there are no other new cats apart from this one i saw but they dont seem phased but i will keep an eye out.

Unfortunatly everything gets taken the wrong way on here..iv'e seen it before with the simplest of posts and i have no idea why people have nothing better to do than try and wind others up?

I am nipping into the vets later to ask thier advice BUT i guarantee if we manage to keep the doors closed all day there wont be any accidents which is why i am sure they are not holding it in as guess they would do it in another art of the house?..if they are that scared of something they wouldn't go in the garden like they do and next door etc..maybe i'm wrong..seems to be here!

I am not a vet nor did i ask for medical help just some ideas incase anyone else had, had a similar problem. There are posts on here that i agree are not really relevant but you dont see me going on them trying for a fight.

I DO appreciate the answers and as my title read love our cats to bits, they are not mistreated in any way shape or form and i apologise for getting a little stressed over the situation but hey i'm only human.

Particularly loving you dragging this on over into one of the other forums. I wasn't going to say anything until you started with that stunt.

You've left these poor animals with nowhere to go... you don't want them going in your garden, you don't want them going in the house (and refuse to provide them with a litter tray, even temporarily, do do this) - so basically you're peeved off that they've stopped going in all your neighbours' gardens and you're having to take the responsibility for things back into your own back garden so to speak.

What exactly do you want them to do? Sounds like they're desperately trying to find somewhere to go that they can bury it and not get yelled and and they're just in the dog house whatver they do - and it's pretty unfair to complain they're going in your garden with the assumption that they'll do their business in all your neighbours to keep your place nice and clean isn't it?

What I'm guessing is happened is that there's another cat come onto the patch, wherever they used to go is no longer feeling safe for them - so they're going where they do feel safe... and unfortunately the poor misguided souls feel safe in their own home. Either that or a neighbour's finally got fed up with your cats going anywhere but in your own place and has deployed a water pistol or whatever to discourage them.

The fact you won't provide them with a litter tray and are complaining they're going in your back garden, knocking down every suggestion given to you - and then you have the cheek to run onto another forum on here and say you're being hard done by - that's pretty not on. They're YOUR pets - they're YOUR responsibility - surprising that since it sounds like you've been happily fobbing the cat poo off onto the rest of the neighbourhood for months.

What do you expect to be able to do? Shove a cork up their bum?!

Dizziblonde you have obviously not read any of my last post..please don't live up to your username.

Also i wasn't dragging it into another thread i was actually really interested how some peoples odd minds work! Looking at the replys seems i'm not alone!

    Thanks for your reply though.
  • sudden changes in cats behaviour means something is up, if they havent already they need to see a vet to rule out any thing medical, if they are healthy something has been upsetting them somewhere, you need to find out what. whats so wrong with a litter tray? i would rather have poo in a tray that i could scoop out rather that a splodge on the floor!! rubbing a cats nose in poo is vile, and acheives nothing but an upset cat whose face needs cleaning. and an owner that needs their face rubbed in their own poo to see how they like it.

    Hi there

As it has been pointed out the this is a moneysaving forum (although if you look at the relationship forum - hardly any of that is moneysaving) why don't you post on petforums site? It's all about pets with nothing about moneysaving! :D
