A USB stick being 'fried by a heatwave', that's a new one on me.
Photorec will recover pictures and documents, however, if the chips inside the drive have been damaged, then nothing will rover the data.

I think you're 4 years too late with your advice.

SanDisk makes many different types of media, they should know how to recover lost data. I have used the following program to very good effect in retrieving deleted pictures from a Compact Flash card, should work OK on USB sticks. This is a free one-year licensed product and should work OK as long as you are a SanDisk customer and most people have at least one of their products in the house. http://www.lc-tech.com/rescuepro/

I've just realised you need the serial number to activate this. Sorry if you've not bought the correct product.

    Check the post date ;)

I'm guessing it was bumped by angrysmurf without looking. Was getting on my nerves seeing 3 year old posts

I think angrysmurf knew exactly what he was doing.

He obviously has a grievance against this company (Rapid Data Recovery Ltd) or is a competitor, and set about dragging up every post he could find to spam his message.

I am not a rival company but perhaps I should have posted a single thread about Fields, if you are a moderator then please split my post into a single thread.

I did not intend to spam the site I will try to rectify this by contacting the site admins.

I think you only really needed to bring up one old thread at most to post your vent. Especially a thread 4 years old and which I don't think even mentions those companies.

If you have any influence could you please ask the moderators to split my post into a single thread. This is not just a wild rant, please google Fields Data Recovery there are a swathe of complaints against this company and the public need to know about.

Fields are not mentioned in the quickie divorce and tribunal action posts because people are not aware that they are part of Fields Group Ltd. Please PM me I will call you and explain my motivations, I am trying to help people not hurt them. I do not work for a rival company nor do I earn anything from pursuing Fields.

This forum exists for the benefit and protection of consumers and I feel that my post is appropriate.

  • I would recommend photorec - not sure if a windows version exists, but it will recover your files if they are still there and it's free. It even managed to recover some images on my mobile phone that I had deleted in error.
