    Hi
    Posted this the other day,
    Q. A USB flash drive with important data appears to have "fried." What are your recommendations for recovering the data?

    A. Whenever you experience data loss due to accidental erase or corruption immediately STOP using the USB flash drive. Try to retrieve the data is through recovery software, such as Image Rescue 2 or Image Recall 2, which are available at computer retail stores

Have a look here and see if this is any good.

I am just after my Jpeg files as the USB flash drive keep saying "Please Insert a disk into drive E:" when ever I click on the e: drive from windows 2000 pro!. Yes the drivers are ok and fine just the stick.

I have tried recovery software not reading the drive at all. I think because due to the heat wave make my USB flash drive non-workable! due to hot their for only way I could think off is a company try to recover them for me lol. :o

Pcworld does a recovery service controled by IBAS ,for flash drives the price isnt bad either around £30 i believe
If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway

USB flash drives are for temporary storage. You should always have it backup up on your main computer. The amount of times I have told people this at work both before and after they lose it all is too much to keep track of.

However, this site has some interesting programs on:

I wouldnt recomend using usb flash memory stick for storing that type of stuff, the number of times I have left mine plugged in to a pc the other side/end of the country its unbeliveable. I lost it last week yeah laugh I dont know whos pc it is plugged in to or where I will proberbly find it next time I visit the office.
I have bought another this time 4GB

Data recovery? good luck I have had sucess myself with easy recovery pro but the drive needs to be viewable in my computer hopfully you may have some sucess seeing as yours is.
Failing that I had 3 drives fail in a month 1 when I shut the machine don to install the 1st replacement the prblem was that I had managed to recover all my files from the first fail to that drive and not backed them up SCSI drives are so reliable. anyway I ended up sending my drive away for data recovery they were a pain in the !!!!!! I told them to do whatever was needed to get the data Iwas prepaired to pay so dont do anything that could reduce any chance of recovery. they went ahead and hammered the drive for a week trying to get it seen when I had told them if needed they could replace parts that would cost ect I ended up paying about £500 and got no data back, the drive was returned in in a state that ment I couldnt return it for replacement they did say they would issue me with somthing to give to the manufacturer to say it had been for data recovery and that was why the seals were broken but they never did so stay away from fields data recovery

Excellent program which I have used on numerous occasions, not free but you can download and see what you can recover before buying for $69.95.

Where abouts are you as I have a registered copy on my pc and id be willing to help if you are near me (hamilton - scotland)

Please steer well clear of Rapid Data Recovery Ltd, Fields Data Recovery Ltd and dataphoenix.co.uk which are all part of the Fields Group Ltd group of companies. These companies are all based in Bridgend, Wales and are well known for their sharp practices involving taking money for services not rendered and simply relying on their no refunds policy in the T&C. Quite often they damage hard drives and claim that the drive was irreparable – but still charge for an “attempted recovery”.
Don’t take my word for it, Google the company and see the flood of complaints about them. Sadly I cannot recommend anyone even though I have a much better idea of which companies are reputable (I would just be accused of advertising for them). Maybe you can search itprofessionalsdotcodotuk.

The people behind Rapid and Fields Data Recovery are “Dr” Richard John Lewis Cable and Daryl Hamilton Wallis. Google their names or Google companies like quickie-divorce, tribunal action UK, Fields Data Recovery, Rapid Data Recovery and you'll see what I mean.
I have setup a consumer blog about them after being scammed in the same way you were. I am trying to get people together to take action against them, but I need to gather as much public support as possible first.
Please Google “Action against Fields and Rapid Data Recovery” to find my blog and discussion forum
NB: I do not profit from my blog and only invest time in it to warn the public about rogue data recovery companies.

I think you only really needed to bring up one old thread at most to post your vent. Especially a thread 4 years old and which I don't think even mentions those companies.
