Julie had a litte lamb, his fleece was white as snow
and everywhere that Julie went, Lamby was sure to go.
To MSE went Julie, the forumites cried "Oh No!"
But Julie wouldn't listen, his destiny was kleftico.

You're obviously an AE but would love to know who you really are“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
oh my ... I havnt check this thread in ages... what I can say.... lamby is getting on really well, he has a room outside, but he grazes on he grass during the day, he lots of hay on the floor in his room and seems very happy.. we bring him in for an hour or so during the day and he and my daughter chase each other round the coffee table, hes really into his grass but can still wolf down a bottle of milk in seconds! I was starting to get attached thats why hes living outside now, so we dont see him as a pet.
Regaring the issue of my weight, well its in my signature as with many other members I set myself a goal as I would like to be 9stone, which is actually underwight for my height. people can see me in my profile picture so if you think Iam fat ill leave it to you to decide!
"says she is already overweight I wonder just what else she has had sitting on her sofa waiting to be consumed." why dont you post your picture and we can see what you look like? then I can judge you ..

Completely off topic, but please don't diet yourself to being underweight. We women need a certain amount of body fat and being underweight can be just as healthy as being obese. Please think of your bone density!0 -
Ok - not had a chance to read the whole thread but if it's getting a bit out of hand here i'd suggest having a chat with your local vet, they'll be able to give you all the info you need or point you in the right direction.
I can understand why you have done what you have in taking this lamb on. Just think many of us have family overseas that have a goat or two, some ducks, a pig etc in their back yards all for their own use without numerous licences that you would need in this red tape country and we think nothing of it when they decide to kill and cook one of them - it's natures way!!! Good luck OP!
I think it's fab you want to teach your daughter this too, it's nice to know that the meat we eat was actually once a cute bouncy living thing...too often that slips our minds when picking up some nice lamb chops at the supermarket! I'd love to take my daughter hunting once she is old enough - i am fond of the idea of hunting for food, as long as whatever you shoot you intend to eat!
Ps, and by the way can i have an invite when you do decide to make dinner of lamby, mmmm...sounds like a tasty meal...and even better knowing he has had a loving caring home!Until then i hope you get all the right info to keep him well and enjoy rearing him too! x

By the way i hope none of the posters slating the OP for the way she is looking after the lamb eats mcdonalds/burger king/kfc/eggs from battery farms chickens/caged chickens etc or you are all major hypocrites as those animals have a far worse life!
And some of you should watch the Kill it, Cook it, Eat it series to get a sense of appreciation for the meat you eat! Just for a small insight!!!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
Lamb Kleftiko
"In Greek, kleftiko means -stolen meat-," says Theodore Kyriakou, owner of London restaurant, The Real Greek. "According to legend, this dish would be made with a lamb stolen from a flock as it grazed on a hillside. The thief would cook the meat over many hours in a hole in the ground, sealed with mud so that no steam could escape to give him away.
