Hiya All
I am travelling from Stoke-on-Trent to London Euston with my mum on 28th April coming back on the 29th April. I went onto Virgin Trains and the cost for the 2 of us in total is £109.40. If i did the journey from Manchester Picadilly to London Euston it woul cost about £50. Would i be able to buy these tickets but get on the train at Stoke and show this to the ticket inspector when on the train.
Thanks
Lisa
You would be breaching the T&C of the tickets. If Stoke has ticket barriers you wouldn't get on the train in the first place.
Try London Midland Trains and specify a route of via Northampton - it can be a lot cheaper, but is also slower.0 -
If you want flexibility then £109 is the cheapest you're going to get (unless you go on the slower London Midland trains as suggested by dzug). However, if you are prepared to stick to trains you are booked on, and depending on what time of day you want to travel, there are tickets available for £30 return on Virgin.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -
Hereford - Glasgow Central.
Looking to travel Next Friday 27th and returning on the Tuesday 31st March. Does anybody know of anyway of bringing the cost down for this? Im currently finding it to cost around about the £120 mark. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.0 -

Try splitting at Crewe;
Hereford to Crewe Off peak Return £29.50
Crewe to Glasgow Central Advance single £21.50
Glasgow Central to Crewe Advance single £21.50
Crewe to Hereford Off Peak Return £0
Total £72.50
You can also split Hereford-Manchester Pic-Glasgow Central, which can save a few quid more but the tickets are not as flexible.
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to catch your Glasgow train at Crewe at least 30-45minsWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

Standard off peak single is £87.60, anytime single £89.50.
As you need to catch two trains, you could try splitting the tickets to save money but remember to leave plenty of connection time.0 -

Same trains have First Class adv singles at £51.00.
Advance tickets must be booked at least the day before, I think.0 -
