Yes I can get you the £24 fare. When you go to the other site to buy use a VIA of Cheltenham which will force you onto Virgin for most of the journey.
Thanks Dzug
I only seem to be able to get the return for the £12 via Cheltenham although it takes a couple of hours longer. Do you think I should be able to book single journeys separately?
Thanks,0 -

Thanks,
Yes you should be able to. Try it - when you have booked one journey, go to 'book another journey' rather than straight to payment. If it all goes pear shaped then abandon the booking. You won't have lost anything.0 -

I've finally booked ticket for £25! It's weird I had to go about it in a weird way. I booked an Adv Sgl A from Manchester to Llanelli direct 12:34-17:23 for £13 on Virgin site. It wouldn't let me book a cheap return except via 2 changes but I actually went to Trainline site and selected via Stockport and once I selected the "cheapest ticket" option it brought up a £12 fare from Llanelli-Stockport & Stockport-Manchester so 14:29-18:53 and 19:06-19:20. It's weird as Llanelli train goes direct to Manchester but forces you onto a Virgin journey for last 14 minutes to get cheap fare!!
So I'm happy now as return for £25. It just shows that tickets still aren't as straightforward as they say!!
Thanks for all your help.0 -
Hi
Can anyone help me.
Travelling from Birmingham (or Sandwell & Dudley or surrounding stations) to Manchester Airport sometime in the afternoon of Thursday 9 August. To return on Saturday 1 September. Flight is due in from Florida at 05:10 am. Travel is to be for 3 adults and 1 child - have got a Family Railcard. Want to know the best option without tying ourselves down too much on the return journey in case of flight delays.
Thanks very much.
Thursday 9 August Birmingham NS-Manchester Picadilly 12:48-14:20
Manchester Picadilly - Man Airport 14:33-14:56 = £29.75 for Value Advance Single C
Saturday 1 September Man Airport - Crewe 06:57-07:31
Crewe - Bham NS 08:10-09:06 = £29.75
for Value Advance Single C but you may have to pay more if you don't want to definitely have this journey.
A standard open journey would be £91.00 so then it would be £120.75 rather than £59.50.
Hope this helps!

Can any train experts help me?
3 people travelling London - Glasgow, going out on Fri 31 Aug and returning Monday 3 Sept - we want to go as early as possible on Friday & return any time at all after about 11.10am on Monday.
Cheapest I have found is about £75 with Virgin, I don't know anything about railcards but would be happy to buy one since I expect I'd use it for other journeys over the year.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!First baby (a boy) due 03.09.09 - eeeeeeeeekkkkk!0 -

Is that each or for all of you? If it's all of you grab it while it's there. I doubt it is though.
If it's each a railcard will save enough money on that price to pay for its cost - assuming you are eligible for one (a student, over 60 or travellling as a family with at least one child)
Look at GNER as well as Virgin.0 -
Hi all,
I'm trying to get from Manchester to Cambridge next Friday evening (3rd) and back again any time on Sunday (5th).
Best I've found on TheTrainline is £58.20, with National Express weighing in at £45.
I've tried a whole load of codes found online, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any current codes or ideas to make the journey a bit cheaper?
Apart from "don't expect to find anything cheap four days in advance", of course -- just not an option, unfortunately.
Cheers!0 -
Nope - each. Which is a lot when the equivalent flights are only £30! And it seems I'm not eligible for a railcard either. I'll just have to increase my carbon footprint and go Ryanair it seems.First baby (a boy) due 03.09.09 - eeeeeeeeekkkkk!0
