what do you have to do, i mean can anyone just open the account and badda bing, £5 interest per month? that's more than i'm getting now so I really do want this account

i could just withdraw than keep cycling in the same £1k, right?
how do i get this account?

i don't earn over £23,300 but can i just say i do?

On Halifax’s website it says they'll give you £5 each month you pay in £1,000 with their Reward Current Account, whether you're in credit or overdrawn.

Have a look at this where it says Overdrafts.

Not sure if this will help but have a look at it all the same.
  • Don't care about overdrafts, wouldn't touch the things.

I'm asking if I can still get this without having a salary (I don't have a 'salary' or official income but i have access to the amount of money they're talking about).

You don't have to pay a salary into the Reward accounts to get the £5 reward. As long as you pay in a total of £1,000, you'll qualify. You don't have to pay in one sum of £1,000, it could be 2 x £500, 4 x £250 etc. You don't have to leave it in overnight, as long as it hits the account, you can transfer it back out straight away.

it doesn't have to be salary. I pay £1000 in by standing order, then out again the next day every month and I get the reward... x 5 for me and my partner!

You are allowed three reward accounts per person.

That was the case until last November (from memory) when the Ts & Cs changed. They are currently limited to one sole account and one joint per customer for new applicants.

Do you have to switch from an existing account? On their website at the bottom it says:

    Thinking about switching? It’s easy.

Switch from your existing current account to the Reward Current Account and we’ll give you your £5 thank-you each month you pay in £1,000. It really is that simple

Or is this just an option?

Its just an option, we have 3 a/cs between us and havent switched. Havent asked for a chequebook or debit card as we wont need it. I just do the online transaction manually on the 2nd when the reward is in the a/c.

So do you withdraw the £5 every month too to leave £0 then £500 the next month, withdraw £505 and so on?

Yes, exactly but you have to pay in £1000 not £500. So on 2nd March I paid in £1000 and picked up the £5's then transferred that £1015 back to where it is usually kept. It went by faster payment so you dont lose any interest. There is now NIL balance on the a/cs till the next rewards are paid.
