3 - Yes there is a John Lewis IIRC it's the opposite end to Debenhams which is the end I always come in to the TC so I assume is the same as the way you come in.

It's 11.30am at the play centre. I'll get there for then as I don't have a job to do when I get there now!

i find it quite strange that there is different sign languages. i imagine therefore its quite hard for deaf people who learfn BSL when they go to the US and vice-versa, mind you in rep ireland its ASL that is used. its meant to be easier to learn as well.

as I say It was the word of 1 deaf person, maybe he's just got a thing against BSL. mfd sounds much more knowledgeable

    I love you Sami :A

Apologies for the super-polite, efficient response - you got the work side of me coming through. Having shoite with work tonight (working as usual). I am supposed to be training 85 construction managers in Performance Management tomorrow and the lead consultant has still not emailed me the presentation format

And now hubby is shouting at me because I can't summon up the energy to smile for him *rolleyes*

Susan - colours is definitely a difference between the two, my mum gets confused sometimes because she has a child that uses makaton which has the 'other' signs to what she learnt, at school
The teacher in sixth form seemed to think colours was a localised thing but maybe not. I thought that Makaton was partly based on BSL but was designed for people with speech/language difficulties rather than people who just can't hear?

I assumed ASL would be harder being just one hand as I would have thought it would mean there are more subtle differences to make different signs but I guess not.

Gotta be easier than learning a whole new spoken language - at least signs are visual!

    :D

Actually, half the time I struggle with accents - at least you can't have an accent with your fingers (even if there are regional variations) :)

Edit - and as long as you have the basics you can adapt. I once met a deaf blind girl in a toilet (she was waiting in the queue on her own with nobody to tell her that the next cubicle was free) and we managed to have a good chat chatting on our hands. I had never done hand signing before but I managed :)

    ...
What time is everyone getting to the Manc. meet tomorrow?
If i'm organised, and don't lock myself out of the house like last time, i might pop to the TC first. I need a John Lewis. TC does have a John Lewis?
lol yeah those cards are just lost somewhere ;)

yes there is a JL, you can park right near it (if you can find the right way in lol!) I think it's closest to the 2nd exit of the motorway (that is for the TC, the direction I go)

What is with men... Why do they always get mean and shouty when you're not in the greatest of moods to start with?!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

thats what the teacher told us. he used to sign 'news for the deaf' on irish TV

some words are 2 handed but the alphabet is all on one hand.
