Facebook can be a very good website providing you know how to use it. ie - Privacy Settings! for example, those I know well and trust can see everything, people I used to know well or don't really know can see select stuff and my ex and his family, hardly anything. Everyone else, nada!

and you can always block ppl.. like my ex! and make urself unsearchable!

Just, as suggested on here, mark as spam- you won't have to deal with them anymore, and there is no real info they can find out about you from just knowing your email address.
