As the title says, i've never joined facebook before & yet in about a 6 months period, i've received a few emails from them on the lines of "come & join facebook". The emails mention that someone requested that i join, i know this person, she knew my email address & she must've added me to be invited. I'm pretty much annoyed about this, i absolutely loathe facebook & all it stands for, that's the reason why i've never joined or intend to join, i just don't need facebook like the rest of the world does, it's that simple! My friend didn't know this however, we're not exactly close but i hate the fact that she gave my email address out without my consent. I don't see her much now but that's for a different reason not connected with this.
I also have received 2 invites from another person from facebook & i don't have a clue who this person is! It's not even a contact from my email account. I don't post my email anywhere online, so what the heck is going on?
On the last email i received from them, i clicked the unsubscribe link at the bottom but will that make any difference? Won't facebook still have my email address stored forever on their database as i hear nothing ever gets erased/deleted on facebook, only disabled?
Is there anyway i can confirm from them that they will remove my email address completely? I've heard there's no-one to contact in situations like these, there is no redress. What about the uk data protection act? Can i request from them that they send me the information that they've got stored on me? Anyone can advise a facebook loather?

If you look at the FB website you can find the information yourself.
People are trying to help you, and your reply is rather rude!
(couldn't find a confusion smilie) but er, excuse me but where have i been rude? All 3 replies so far have been a bit off with me! And i have looked at their website & i don't see any contact details except a search box which i have no intention of using cos i can't stand that place!0 -

The replies you have received have all been perfectly polite.
If you are unwilling to even search for the answer yourself, why do you expect other people to do this for you? Go into the Help Centre on FB, and you will find the information you are looking for. The information is also on the email(s) you received from FB.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I have had invites from people and i just delete them.
Couldn't you do the same?
Why get upset over such trivia?(c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places )

On some other forums i visit, searching & helping others is pretty much the etiquette. Many times on other forums i'm involved in, people come & ask dumb questions & sometimes get flamed for doing so & told to go & use google. I think that's rude of them. I've never done that as i like to help people & accept that sometimes people just don't have the time to search themselves.
I have an incredible aversion to facebook so i won't take your advice. I'd much rather trawl through google to find the answers to all of my questions. Thank you for your time.0 -
haha are you allergic or something? if you have msn or something they'll just be sending invites to you... its not as if you've joined because they put in your email address! you wont have an account set up or anything! just junk mail it if your that worried... either that or tell all the people who HAVE your email address not to invite u...0

All it is is people on fb finding their friends, When they join (and later on if they wish) there is an option to add the contacts from an email address that the person uses, either a select few or all. I suspect you are simply being emailed as you are already a contact of that person in some way and they would like you to join.
Facebook can be a very good website providing you know how to use it. ie - Privacy Settings! for example, those I know well and trust can see everything, people I used to know well or don't really know can see select stuff and my ex and his family, hardly anything. Everyone else, nada!:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0
