We tend to think of time as linear, as in from point a to point b, and work from the basis that something must have been 'started' at somepoint, possibly by someone or something. But maybe we just 'exist' in a timeless world. And maybe something just always has existed, and always will. Even if that something is nothing or everything.
F*ck me, I sound really, really stoned...
Okay, we'll open up this discussion on another night. Sleep well. x0 -
I think only Hamish is certain of his own opinion enough to prove / disprove the existance of God, and he doesn't seem to be around.

:rotfl:
Yes, I am an athiest.
Although in all honesty, I've never put enough thought into it to prove or disprove the existance of God. I just knew from a very, very early age that an invisible and all powerful being seemed as likely as the tooth fairy or santa clause.
Being spiritual, or having faith in a higher power from an individualistic perspective, is fairly harmless. Until it reaches the point of organised religion. That's where it all seems to go wrong.
"Religion is the opiate of the masses", and of course, it has killed far more people than heroin ever will.
I have no particular like or dislike for people who believe in God.
I just don't much care for those who wish to impose their religious belief system upon others.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I believe in god but wouldn't go as far as to say I am christian, I eat meat and I would say I am fairly liberal.
Goodness knows where that puts me!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
And what about the huge cost to the country of medical treatment to those who destroy their health and the benefits payments to addicts who can't work or have no motivation to work as a consequence of their addiction.
And then theres the cost to the country of the crime needed to fund the drug habit....... Or are you proposing to give them out for free - courtesy of the tax payer?
yes, free on prescription - paid for by the savings in crime/policing0
