iPhone: Tethering vs Dongle
Hi,
with o2 now offering using mobile broadband for 2 pounds using either Internet Tethering or a USB dongle, I wonder if some of you can advise me as to which option is better/faster/more reliable?
What I do like about the ideo of using the iPhone as a modem is that a/ I have it with me at all times anyway and b/ it would save me the 20 quid for the USB dongle. But if the dongle offers advantages over the iPhone than I´d like to be aware of those so that I can make the right decision.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this with me.

using a laptop for internet usually equates to more bandwidth than a phone would normally use. Check that your iphone plan allows for a significant amount of bandwidth if you plan to use tethering.
Having a seperate dongle helps reduce this issue if this is a problem. The other advantage of the dongle is that you dont need the phone. Using it a lot will kill the phone battery when tethering so if you are going to be a moderate to heavy user, I wouldn't suggest tethering.
I only use tethering for a couple of weeks each December so a phone option is fine for me. I'd use a dongle if you plan to use it daily, it is a lot more convenient. However I think the important thing is checking your bandwidth allowance for the iphone.0
