Hi mummy, thanks I hope it works out too. The local farmshop is literally 3 minutes away in the car. I can usually be in and out and back home within 30 minutes!! Its so reasonable and the meat is so much nicer than from the supermarket. Its just the other stuff such as cereal etc that seems more expensive, hence me doing a big shop at Asda.
Nothing too exciting to report today. Just been down to the local Asda living store for a pressie for DD's party. They had absolutely nothing in age 4-5 so ended up buying some minnie mouse pj's for £8.
Then called in at the local tesco express for bread and margarine. So a low ish spend day!
Think thats about all from me. Catch up soon xxMummytogirls x0 -
Good luck with your grocery experiment. I too do a monthly shop. I find though that you almost have to do a 6 week staple shop for some things. Ie beans, tinned tomatoes etc so that you have some flexibility in your menu planning. Eg we were all ill with a nasty cold a couple of weeks ago. Both parents were too ill to cook really, so we used alot of beens up!
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi mummy, how are you doing, just catching up on everyones diaries I'm not sure what I've done these past few days but haven't been on here!
How are you feeling is your cold still lingering about? Hope its giving you a rest and not bugging you too much. The weather has been pants here too, but it was nice and dry today so I got loads of gardening done, so now our communual gardens at the front of our houses is looking good. Will need to get it finished but at least I have contributed!
Your shopping budget sounds reasonable, I always find it so difficult to stick to, but you sound like you have your plan sussed out pretty well!
Talk soon!

Morning diary,
Just doing a round up of last weeks expenses. Had a very cheap week and only spent £48! I had 4 NSD's, go me!! So its only the 18th and ive already had 6 :j. Well on my way to 10.
Today will be a spend day maybe on the bus plus we need some beans for tonights tea and DH has asked me to get some coffee so will buy that too.
Rubbish weather here again today, have sorted 2 loads of washing out for this evening but I reckon they are going to end up in the dryer again.
Hi Chev, thanks for popping by! We go through so many baked beans in our house its unreal!! I have debranded now, DH was a bit unsure but hes got used to the supermarkets own now!!
Il keep you posted on my own little grocery challenge!!
Hi CwC, the cold is just about leaving the house!! DD1 had a high temp yesterday but shes fine this morning. Lets just hope we dont all start with it again and carry on the cycle of germs! I know some many people who have got it too, bloody weather!!
Lucky you have a good day yesterday, it rained buckets here yesterday and looks like more of the same today . At least the plants are getting watered!!
Right best get off and get sorted for taking DD to school. Catch up soon, 8 days til payday btw!!! xxMummytogirls x0 -
Hi Mummy
Yay to so many NSDs and only spending £48 last week.
I am going to try out your idea and do one big online shop and then top up shops for the rest of the month. I need to analyse all my receipts from the past couple of months to identify what I can order in bulk, how many etc. It will also be beneficial for over the holidays as well as I don't want to take my 2 shopping, its making me stressed now just thinking about it.

Hi Mummy,
Sorry I have been awol. You seem to be doing great as usual!!
I like the 'plan' idea for grocery shopping. I could really do with one. I'm currently suffering with morning sickness and finding it hard to eat, plan or even sit on the comp and put things in the basket! Just thinking of it is bad enough. Still all for a good reason. I may pinch your idea and come up with a plan. Does anyone have any tips for me to get prepared for the arrival of number 2 (I'm thinking positive, I've suffered losses in the past) I'm already thinking of gradually stocking up cupboards to help when I'm on SMP and also v short on time!

Hi Diary, just popping in for my daily catch up!!
7 days til payday :j!! Still no quidco !!
Erm what to report... yesterday was lsd, had to pay for the bus and swimming. Didnt get the coffee as it was £5 so il wait til I go to the supermarket.
Today is a medium to high spend day as I need petrol. Also running low on milk so I may just go to the farmshop this evening and get it out the way.
Choo, yay to you being on board with my shopping idea!! I totally appreciate the whole taking the kids shopping issue!!
Tootoo, congrats on your pregnancyhow far along are you? You could stock up the cupboards, you could also cook and freeze loads of meals nearer the time too so that once the baby is born you can just defrost a few and saves cooking etc.
Try ginger biscuits for the morning sickness.
Think thats all from me! Catch up soon xxMummytogirls x0 -
Hi mummy
I'm loving your grocery challenge. It is pretty much what I am doing but my local farm shop is a good 15 minute drive away and Mr M's is across the road!! Let us know how you get on. Seems to be working ok for me so far. Just been a tight month this month and so I have used the cc far more than I would have liked
Hope everyone is better today.

Morning diary, no work until Monday for me yippee!! Thought id spend some time picking DD1 up from nursery before she finishes on Friday. Plus we can have the afternoons together.
Just checked the bank accounts, everything in order there.
Still no quidco!! Dont know why I torture myself looking every day!!
GAP, my farm shop and Mr M's are the opposite way round to you! The farm shop is like my local shop!!
Well whilst we are on about the farmshop, I popped in last night and got a few bits to tide us over but I am going to have to do a tiny shop aswell for toilet rolls etc. Dont want to do too much of a shop cos im getting a big one delivered on Tuesday.
So for £15.70 I got:-
8 pints of milk
onion
salad
bag of potatoes
3 chicken breasts
9 sausages
minced steak
6 eggs
strawberries
Ive already got a bit of veg left and puddings for kids etc. So out of this I plan to make:
Wednesday - chicken goujons, hm wedges and salad
Thursday - sausage, mash and veg
Friday - undecided yet!!
Saturday - Dad taking us out for a thank you meal.
Sunday - freezer surprise!
Monday - chilli
From the supermarket I need toilet rolls and coffee for DH oh and dads yoghurts for work. So im hoping to get away with £15 in the supermarket this week. Then my big shop will come Tuesday and the cupboards, fridge and freeze will be fit to bursting again!!
Got some cucumbers on the go in the garden and they are coming alon nicely. Hopefully they will be big enough to pick within the next few weeks.
Hope everyones ok. Looking forward to making my payments on Tuesday and getting over the 30% mark and out of the overdraft for ever!! xxMummytogirls x0 -
That's pretty good from the farm shop. I wish our farm shop was nearer, although I pass it a couple of times a month so really I should make a point of stopping there!
You are so close to the 30% markI remember when I got rid of my overdraft, it was a great feeling and I have never had one since.
Keep going!!
