MTG we went to Aldi and spent £52 and there was nothing to make a meal with!!!! £27 worth was alcohol but the rest was things like nuts, crisps, pop and ingredients to make 2 desserts to take to my brothers for Christmas Day.

I am not buying anything else now.
  • I know what you mean Louby, all I got from Mr Al's was 3 chicken breasts for tonights tea and then the veg, desserts and 2 bottles of Prosecco! I did look to have quite a bit for my money though. I have spent over £150 . This does include a Mr T's shop for the monthly stuff but even so.

I was just telling DH I remember the Christmas when we were really skint and we spent £50 in Mr M's and then used our £25 off voucher. That was a miserable Christmas with minimal treats and I would not go back to that. However, I could do with a bit of that money saving spirit!

So I have finally caught back up with my ironing (can't remember if I mentioned my iron broke last Sunday! 3rd thing so hopefully thats it!). DH has had a quick whip round with the hoover and duster and house feels sparkly again.

We are planning on a Christmas movie and treats tonight :D.

    xx

  • Me again!

    Keep remembering things to add!

DH took delivery of his new car yesterday. Its a hybrid so hoping it will save us a bit on petrol. Its nice to be chauffeured around aswell before the novelty wears off :rotfl:.

One of my jobs over Christmas is to look into our life insurance and if we haven't got it add on critical illness cover.

Again I think thats all!! Weve got a busy-ish day tomorrow were going bowling in the morning and then weve got risotto balls to make for Christmas day starter. We always go out for a meal on Christmas eve so were booked into one of our favourite Italian's tomorrow night.

    xx

  • Yeah to shiny new car, I fancy a hybrid for my next car but that's a couple of years away, want to keep mine until DD starts with driving lessons which is 2 years away and then she can have my little car and I will get a new one (well used but new to me).

Have a lovely evening out tomorrow, we are having a takeaway I refuse to cook on Christmas eve.

    Have a lovely Christmas xx

You're not alone in over spending MTG. You, me and half the country this time of year.

Of course we'll be far more organised next year :)

Great news re DH's new car :)

Re the critical illness cover - I know two people who had cancer and had this cover, they both highly recommend getting it. If you can afford it get it.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I also recommend getting critical illness cover xx.

  • Afternoon Diary,

How are we even 2 days away from the big day?!

DH and I had an unexpected night out last night. MIL wanted the kids to sleep and DH had been let down by his mates so we ended up going for a drink locally and finished off with a curry. This obviously wasn't in my healthy eating plan for the few days up to Christmas :rotfl:. I also haven't been @rsed with the gym today now either :rotfl:.

Spent an eye watering amount on shopping over the last few days. Part of me is annoyed and then the other part thinks stuffed it I'm going to enjoy my Christmas plus we have visitors round Christmas Day and Boxing Day. January is going to be very poor with the shopping budget which is left !

I am truly done now, went to pick up the turkey, profiteroles and my friends present this morning. Just that one present to wrap and then sorted.

    Hope all ok anyway xx

I can't believe it's Christmas eve tomorrow  I've only wrapped four presents and the house is still a tip .

Shopping, don't talk to me about shopping . I feel like we can't stop spending at the moment . After Christmas I need to become a recluse do we stop spending :rotfl:.

    Have a lovely evening :xmassmile
