Well done on keeping your spending down I really struggle with grocery shopping bills. This month I'm treading water but intend to really cut back in September. Summer months always seem to cost me more even though my DD is 19 now.
I'm subscribing to your diary so will pop in again.Snowball DF Nov 2017Jan 2011 MBNA £2634.66 Feb £2608.37 Mar £2561.860 -
Hi Poorbuthappy, thanks for popping by
!
Ive really learnt to cut my spending but it has taken a good few months to feel like im getting anywhere!
I was just thinking last night once I get to end Aug I will post my spends from Feb-Aug to see how far ive come.
With the weather not being too good ive spent more this summer cos you cant just pop to the park with a picnic when its peeing it down can you!
Cant believe your DD is still costing you at 19, hope my 2 dont at that age haha !!!
Do you have a diary?Mummytogirls x0 -
LOL by 19 i had had DD1 and was living with my partner. So i didn't cost my Mum anything.
My brother is 18 and he pays mum £30 a week to cover food and electric/water etc. Then he works evenings so pays for everything he needs himself.
Well done on decreasing your spends since feb M2G. Will be interesting to see how well you have done.
Everytime i pop on you diary i keep reminding myself to join some more survey sites!!

My DD has just finished college and has a part time job BUT she has a broken ankle and can't work so doesn't get paid. We had just got to the point where she was going to start contributing. I said she could have the summer without paying. She has to be fed and she showers a lot etc etc. As soon as she is back to work finance will look up.
When I said summer costs more it's not all down to DD - stews, casseroles soups etc cost less.
I've done nothing except mess about on my laptop this morning!!!!!!Snowball DF Nov 2017Jan 2011 MBNA £2634.66 Feb £2608.37 Mar £2561.860 -
Woo my diary is picking up a bit :T!!!
Kel, me and DH actually bought out first house at 18. Seems a bit grown up to me when I look back but its got us to our beautiful house that we are in today. Cant blame the house for the debt as its been 2 maternity leaves and a wedding which seems to have caused that!!
The surveys are getting me cross at the mo, by the time I get to them they met their quota aarrggghhhh !
Pbh, awww your poor dd breaking her ankle, hope shes ok. Obviously no mother would see their children with no food if they werent contributing. Especially in such an unfortunate situation as this.
Ooohhhh I love hearty winter food, feels like we need some today its flipping freezing here. I always make a big pan of soup on a weekend which is so cheap to do and makes absolutely loads.
DH not keen on stew, but he can just have something else :rotfl:!!!
Does anyone have a slow cooker? I do but DH kindly put it up in the loft, so im thinking of telling him to get it back down ready for the cooler (!) weather coming.Mummytogirls x0 -
I have a slow cooker and would be lost without, stews, soups, bolognaise, chillis, rice puds, i miss not using it as much in the summer time, as i like to bung everything in before i go to work and then i have a lovely meal made for teatime and just have to do potatoes and veggies, saves so much time.0

Hi Pennywise, re the bolognaise in slow cookers, do you brown the mince first or just put it in raw along with the rest of the ingredients?Mummytogirls x0

i brown it off with onions and then bung it in slow coooker.0

I can't wait to start using my slow cooker again. Re the browning, I don't usually bother, just bung the meat in and give it a stir.
Pooky, who posts on the DFW chat, throws chick peas and a couple of tins of curry sauce, Tesco value or sainsburys basics in and makes a huge pot, some leftover chicken or meat can always be added and it can be frozen.
I cheat on the cleaning as we only live on the ground floor of our house...upstairs is still "work in progress"Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
