It's just another day to me, just like Valentines, Christmas etc and if my son remembers then so be it but if he doesn't then I'm not going to be let down by it!

I would hope my mam doesnt think its a let down, I always get her a card and a present, as does my brother (he usually takes her out for a meal) (we do the same for fathers day, she is a single parent and has been since I was 1)

It's aways a surprise to me. Having not had a mum since I was 10 I have never taken any notice of mother's day, even when I became a mum so I always get a nice surprise when I get a card and/or pressie from my daughter.

Yes usually - I get a card and/or present from DD if I remember to give her some money and take her to a shop (she is only 8!), then spend the day rushing round to my Mum's, my Gran's and my ex MIL's with cards and presents! There are times when I wish I could get a day off maybe... :o

I feel pretty much the same, I always get my mam a card and a present, usually some flowers, but our family have never made a big fuss of it. Now I'm a mother (my little girl is only 3 however) I would only expect a card via Daddy, and that's fine by me. And a homemade card is definitely the best :T

Well, let's see. My son is only two, so OH is on charge.... What do you imagine usually happens :rotfl:.
Also my birthday is the same week, so no chance of a double celebration.
Him Mum doesn't usually fare any better :(.

My Mum usually spends both days (she gets two mother day's per year, in Poland it's in May) complaining about being let down. A card and flowers and chocolates and meal out isn't enough.

If it helps anyone to feel better (I promise, this is not "woe is me") - I am a daughter and a mother. Nothing will happen in any direction - my own Mother could not give a monkey's (family black sheep - yawn) whether I send a card (which I guess I will but purchasing them always makes me so very sad as none of the twee little messages apply). My own daughter has been brainwashed by her Father/Grandmother and is no longer bothered (she used to when she was little though) and I should imagine she has the same problem that I do when she is browsing the cards - it is all just very sad.
    :(
To anyone with a Mother/Daughter who you love and who loves you - lucky peeps.

Mu Mum's ace so I tend to take her out for lunch and the day, and get her flowers etc, and I am prob gonna end up getting DD a card etc off DGD, as DGDs Dad wont bother:D:D
It'd make my day if I get a card esp off DGD;):D

I send one to my mum. I dont buy the best mother in the world etc as thats not how i feel but a plain card saying happy mothers day out of respect etc to mark the day! I need to get one this week.

I usually get one from my son. I dont tend to see him though or receive a gift. I did when he was a little boy though.

  • Mother's day has always been diappointing to me. Similar to others I don't have contact with my mother. My daughter may or may not, can't tell at this point.

I will probably go to visit my ex-mil on the Saturday evening have a take away and watch a film, let her know how special she is to me. If my daughter does contact me I'll rejoice in that if not I'll spoil myself!:j
