O2 unfair free weekends
Options
 I think its unfair that O2 is offering free weekend to new customers and not online customers say i just called to upgrade and they wouldnt offer me anything like the extra 2000 minutes that if I was to be taking out a new contract at £35.00 a month.

I think it stinks as well. I am on the O2 200 offline contract and I am not entitled to it either, however my mates who are on the Online PAYG deal are entitled to it.
As usual, existing contract holders get nothing!0 -
If they're still offering the Retention tariffs as described in the (long!) thread on this forum, I think existing contract holders get a better deal, they just have to go to some lengths to get it.
Interestingly, when I signed up for my O2 contract I was also sent a letter saying that, come my time to upgrade, they would guarantee to at least match a deal for a new customer. I wonder how binding that letter would be.0 -
The O2 website says this:
Existing Pay Monthly Customers
Existing customers get the same deal when you upgrade - FREE Long Weekend calls, call 202 from your mobileThis isn't life in the fast lane, it's life in the oncoming traffic - Terry Pratchett0 -

doesnt say offline only?

I agree with seaniboy that Vodafone PAYG is now a better deal than O2 PAYG.
As seaniboy has mentioned above not only do you get the free calls/texts if you spend £5 in the week but you can make these free calls/texts anywhere. O2 restricts the free calls to your home postcode area.0
