Would like to connect an Epson Stylus C62 printer to my laptop - Pls help

Options
I have an Epson Stylus C62 and would like to know if you can get another cable then the one supplied to connect to my laptop. I would like to know if it’s possible to purchase a cable to fit the serial port of the laptop.

The laptop I am using at the moment is a Dell Inspiron 1525. Can anyone advise?

Thanks

Are you sure this machine has a serial port? Why not use the USB connections on printer and computer?

Yes that's what I thought at first but when had a look at the manual it's says serial port. I may be wrong. If you think otherwise, what do you recommend?

It should have a USB and a Parallel port on the printer.

What cables do you have at the moment?

I've no idea what they are called. It has what looks a bit like a scart cable that fits to the printer and on the other end a round fitting with six pins, similar to a mouse socket fitting type thing.

The scart looking one is the parallel port the PS2 one may be the mains but not 100% sure. When is the last time you used this printer as they are fairly old?

Both your printer and computer are specified as having USB ports. I'd buy a USB cable.

I tried to connect the printer to an old computer but then realise that it isn't secure with regards to firewall, anti spyware and virus protection. All the security is out of date and would need to reregister for a new registration key, though it would be better to connect the printer to my laptop instead as I want to get rid of the old computer eventually. So haven't actually used the printer it self. The printer was given to me recently, the person it belonged to had just got a new one and asked me if I needed a printer. I'm hoping to get a new one sometime in the future but thought this might do in the meantime.

Yeah, that's the type I have.

The top image is similar to the type I have actually but more or less the same.
