Has anyone got an iphone on an o2 retention deal?

Hi there!

I am a gold customer with o2 and currently get 40% off my 18 month contract (£45 tarrif, pay £27) and can upgrade 3 months early which was last Friday. When I called they advised that I can upgrade however would not be able to get a deal until the last month of my contract which was fair enough however when I called on Friday just to check that they couldn't offer me anything I was advised that they cannot offer any deals whatsoever on the iphone.. just wondering if this was true and if I am waiting 2 months for nothing!!

There are very few (if any) deals on the iPhone. Apple set the price not the network.

I got a refurb iphone (came in perfect condition and still has a full warranty) for free, 600 mins, 500 textx, free o2 to o2 and free internet for £27 a month. 18 month contract.

Buy one on ebay, already locked to O2 for around £400

I would suggest reading the cheapest iphone discussion thread, you will see that several people like myself have been able to get reconditioned iphones by speaking to the retentions dept, rather than upgrades.

i am a gold customer getting a free refurb 16gb 3gs iphone on 28 quid a month 18 month contract- 300 mins ,unlimted texts and data/wifi etc.....its too me about 6 phone calls and ages on the phone to negotiate this deal so good luck- but not any refurbs in stock so gota phone up all the time and check-could be 6 weeks -or more

Thanks for your help guys.. Just to let you know I was impatient and upgraded yesterday... no discounts on my account so paying £45 a month for 1,200 minutes, unlimited texts and data for 24 months.. however got free iphone 3gs 32gb which should have been £149 on 18 month contract of £89 on 24 month.. so saved a little bit of money by not paying for the top of the range phone I suppose... took me 3 calls to get that. Could have waited until last month of contract and got a better deal but hey.. extra £18 a month for a better phone not horrendous? Sitting waiting for delivery now!
