  • Reading the T&Cs though, it looks like the offer is being administered by phones4u or someone from that group (Email domain is 4ultd.com)

Also, reducing the tarriff after exactly 6months might be difficult given:
On receipt of your seventh invoice from the relevant network, you must register your claim by emailing your details to cashback@4ultd.com . On receipt, we will confirm your eligibility and give you full details of how to progress your claim. You must be up to date with all payments to the network and remain on your initial tariff in order to qualify for the remaining Boots Advantage Card Points (the advertised total less 1000 points automatically awarded to you upon delivery of your new phone). Upon successful completion of the validation process, the remaining points will be credited to your account by The Boots Company PLC. Where this is not the case, then you will not be entitled to receive the balance of the Boots Advantage Card points offered

But if you play it right and your a big boots spender, you could be quids in :)

  • Hi Coolio (or anyone else who has time for a bit of a numbskull!), forgive me for appearing stupid, but can you please explain exactly what I would pay out, and be able to claim back? does this deal mean that after claiming cash back, the phone is virtually free?
    thanks for your response.
I have gained from advice as well as bargains here, so if I can help in any way, I am only too pleased to do so and appreciate your thanks.
  • Don't be mislead!

The cashback referred to isn't cash - it's boots points.

The figures are based on changing tariff after 6 months - but this is a t-mob contract which means no changes are allowed during the first 11 months.

The figures are also based on 12 months, but this is an 18 month contract!

Correct - only useful if you spend that kind of money in Boots AND you can only purchase using points if you have enough points to cover the cost of the item (i.e. no part points part cash purchases)

    Correct & correct.

It's one thing when retailers claim something is free based on a change part way through to a tariff that it far from useful for your needs - it's another thing when this kind of creative accounting is reiterated around the internet by all and sundry WITHOUT a proper explanation of the required tariff change. We need MORE transparency in this area, not less.

Also, as you correctly pointed out, the original offer is flawed in that TMobile will NOT allow you to trade down your tariff as suggested within the first 11 months.

Wrong! - This is one thing that the OP got right. There are TWO versions of each TMobile tariff these days. The higher priced version only has a 12 month minimum term.
