Is now the time right to go on a fixed contract?

Hi all, I have been with my present supplier for years and have never switched (Souothern Electric)
I have just discovered that i can save £188 per year (monthly spend £61.50) by switching to EON's FixOnline V6 Dual Fuel. The tarrif appears to be quite good but being a novice at this, i was wondering....
IS NOW THE RIGHT TIME TO CHANGE TO A FIXED TERM (April 2011) CONTRACT?
I would really appreciate any kind thought or offers of asssistance.
Many thanks.

Have you compared using how much you spend or how much you use (units)? Only the latter is a true comparison.

Not sure if the time is right but if you do decide to go with EON then make sure that you use quidco for £70 cashback. This is what I did last week.

If you decide that you've made a mistake (i.e. prices drop) then you could cancel and offset the £30 charge for doing so against quidco. You're still £40 up.
  • Hi Spiro,

    Thanks,
I did it by my last two bills (6 monthly bills) which gave me my annual kw?? for Gas and Electric.
I just need to know if it is a good idea to go onto a oniline account that is fixed till next April?
I want to swith but am usless at making the right decisions.

    Hi Looby L00,

Just a bit of advice for you, when comparing tariffs/prices on comparison websites, always use your annual usage in kWh not the monthly amount in £’s. this will ensure it’s as accurate as possible.

With regards to fixing your prices, this is a decision only you can make, based on what you are looking for from a tariff.

    Brian :)

EDIT: Crossed over with you Spiro! Sorry to duplicate!

you'll need an account and to pay £5 annual admin (taken from your cashback). You'll also need to makw sure that your account is set for BACS payments.
  • smk77,
Do you mean my bank account needs to be set up to receive bacs payments?
I am paid by bacs every month, so i presume it should be ok.
Had a quick peek at this and it looks good. Thanks

With quidco you can be paid into your bank (BACS) or PayPal. The EON cashback is only payable if your quidco account is set up for BACS payments

NOTE: YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR BROWSER COOKIES BEFORE GOING THROUGH QUIDCO! OTHERWISE IT MAY NOT TRACK.

It looks like they have a better deal with N Power. Is N Power a good supplier, does anyone know? Thanks.

Don't pick someone on quidco just on the basis of the best cashback as this is only a one off payment. Pick the cheapest supplier based on your actual consumption and then if you can use quidco use it as a bonus.

From comments on here nPower are not very good
