actually i will make that my goal, to do some research this weekend.
me... I don;t have a clue either... I am managing to build my site using mr site....
one bit of advice that I found very useful (not sure where I got it from so ta muchly if it was any of you lot!!) is to spend time looking at other sites to see how they work, what you like, what you don;t like . This has helped me to gain a better understanding of what a good website is. As for actually building the site.... well so far so good, but that seems like the easy bit.... once I am up and running I have the joy of SEO to go... now that send shivers down my spine cos it all goes over my head! But one thing at a time, eh...

This might be worth an explore Em although it looks a bit overwhelming to me. I guess you would be working with existing course materials and not designing your own (at least thats what I remember from looking at OU jobs for DH) but this sort of stuff might help you understand how it all works.

Cooo-eee Mambury :-) only if you promise not to bring Paulas giant merkin sulkie with you!
I would love to meet up, you'll have to bear with me coz anxiety and depression aren't the greatest things to have when meeting new people! It's easy on here coz it doesn't matter if you can't think what to say right away :-)0 -

happy to help where I can with websites.
There are loads of free options out their that are very easy to set up and there are other ones out there that will cost you, but still worth it depending on how far you want to go with it.
First thing is to reserve a domain name for your business. www.123-reg is one option (not one I would personally use having worked for them) but seem to be ok for just the domain name etc, really as for registering the name it really is not a big issue where you do that. Once you have that, well you decide what options you want to do for the webpage itself.
I am happy to help out wherever I can and there are loads of others here that will do the same for you.
I need to figure out the seo on my own site lol, will get around to it eventually, but mine is just a business site without much luck at the moment! lol
thank you so much, is there any particular reason why you wouldn't use that site or is it just a personal thing? also what does SEO stand for? (like i said- total technophobe)"it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick" - my dad, regularly throughout my childhood when I complained about something being too small/not perfect/not tasty/not what I wanted. he was right every time.0 -
You lot are talking over my head again!
According to my 2 year old we had moodles for dinner, not sure what that has to do with the OU though! Speacking of which, I am going to be on the other end of it come sep, I am starting a degree, so whatcha teaching? I am going in for the social worker training.
As for the list, all of the above plus the confidence gained from all of the encouragement has meant that ideas aren't just ideas anymore, they are really happening. Mabel and Mambury - fancy venturing to Exeter? I'd love to meet up with you both too - not sure how long that'd take you? it's about 40 mins from me xJust £10,852.28p to go...
Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
And then do it.0
