For me it is a personal one lol,

SEO is hard for me to explain, Dilldalli is much better explaining it as my brain still works on the concepts of meta tags etc.

What it does is allows you to use key words to optimise your website and to be found much easier and generally much higher in the search engine rankings. Good SEO assistance is literally worth its weight in gold if done properly. One of those things I keep telling myself to properly study and work with one day!

ooh, that sounds way above my capabilities!! for now i think i'll stick to just creating a website. but thank you for explaining.
"it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick" - my dad, regularly throughout my childhood when I complained about something being too small/not perfect/not tasty/not what I wanted. he was right every time. :D
  • ok, off now to snoop at some lovely hamper websites, thanks all. hopefully be back tomorrow to tell you i have created a website!! lol

  • Thats not a job for a social worker, or the police apparently. According to them, unless they are actually breaking the law, you have to fill out a 2 week log spy log and hand it in to environmental health, then they will put said holigans in court and give them an asbo, all you need is a piar of binoculars and to know who the hell they are to begin with.
You have my sympathy, neighbours are like that sometimes, although, I have sussed out that if you tell the police they are argueing and that the kids are in the house, that you can bypass EH. I wasn't lying, but my motivation was not their kids.

These havent got kids yet ...thank god
The lad whos having the party put my daughters hand through the waiting room window at the train station a few years ago when he was about 15, he pushed her
He was hasselling her for cigs or money
The signal man took her to hostpital and made a statement to police ..who did nothing cos boy was having problems..told him off
Also he had broke her earphones and police told me they only cost a couple of £s just buy some more
So she had stitches and was out of pocket...boy got told off
So he learned his lesson then

I suppose if I came up with the idea I ought to add my twopenneth too.

What I have got from this thread: -
    - Less time to do unnecessary things like housework
    - A blog with actual real followers
    - Space in my loft, although it is getting filled up again with more ebay "stock"
    - A feeling of belonging to something special
    - A small understanding of HTML code, and the motivation to learn more
    - A totally unwanted understanding of merkins and well worn items of clothing (do they do well worn merkins too ?? Aargh, that's disgusting, sorry!)
    - About £500 I wouldn't have had otherwise
    - A determination to continue money saving, money making and paying off my mortgage
    - A sulkie!!!!!!!!
    - The desire to make a website and the confidence of having lots of people who care and who can help behind me.

Thanks guys, you all rock!

    Evening everyone,
Just caught up with the dribble.
I've been getting used to turbo lister. Have another 9 items loaded ready for free listing tomorrow.
    Basing - Welcome
PreciousB - love the site but I will not, repeat not, be showing it to my OH, she has far too many bags. Sorry.
Jo - great news on the trial. good luck.
Even - was going to say why bother with eBay tonight, tomorrow is free but you know now.
Helz- Hi, I'll come back to you in a minute.
Wayne - not heard of printshop but their site is pretty impressive and it's definately up your street.

    Phew! think that's everything

Right, helz, I'm no web expert at all, in fact all I know is what I've picked up since joining this thread but:

    think of a name
buy the domain: 123-reg or easily.co.uk or others (think deq mentioned one other to try)
start a blog - choice really of wordpress or blogger. We all use a mix of both on here and they're both free. :-) my choice is blogger because i find it easy to use and there are loads of free templates available.
you've already got facebook. join the thread's fb group (link on first page of this thread), tell us on there what the fan page is and we'll join up, help you get some visitors.
Hales in a twitter legend, when I check all our tweets I see the original and then hales retweet. fantastic.
set up twitter using that domain name - do you currently use? familiar with it?
set your mse profile homepage to your blog/site so we can all see/help. Don't be shy we only offer honest criticism in a constructive way - or that's all I've experienced

you can bounce ideas round on here, as you know we're all a friendly bunch but I wouldn't mention a domain name until you've bought it. we're a good lot but there are hundreds of fly by nights who come to read and you don't want to lose it before you've bought it.
If you find cally on here, she has a fantastic easy to understand guide to seo but for now I wouldn't worry about it until you get your site up and running.

dang! look at the time. night all.
