That's made me feel lots better, thank you! -you know when you look at a word for too long and it starts to look completely wrong and you wonder if it's spelled wrong? I look at the stuff I make and draw too much and end up thinking it's rubbish. Seems to work the opposite way for writing though - if I write and write without really thinking out each sentence, then go back again and again and edit it, each time I go back I like it better and I end up with something I'm really happy with.
How is your writing going? I seriously can't wait till we're allowed a look!
Just about to put up Jamie Sulkie and some beads so if you have a look in about ten minutes they'll be there. I love 2cats1kid's stuff, it's so interesting because there's always something differentI have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -
Paula your sulkies are fab
I showed the first one to DD to see if there were any of her friends deserving of a sulkie for a birthday pressie. She said "that's more me, actually" so at least she knows she is a mardy teen!!!
And I worry about doing so many little bits that the shop will look rubbish because it's all higgledy piggledy little bit of this, little bit of that. So that's why I think eventually I'll have to do a proper one where I can sort it all out and have menus and such.
Did some winged creations last night but won't be able to post them as we are off as soon as I'm coffeed and breakfasted.
Just had a thought - maybe from October-ish you could do "bah humbug" sulkies? I'm sure people would buy them for hard to buy for folks, or folks who don't really do Christmas.
ETA are you sure you are charging enough for your sulkies, Paula? There must be a lot of sculpey in one of those and it's not cheap (had a dabble in sculpey too, lol) and it must take you ages to do each one. I'd say you are underpricing, m'dear.0 -

The winged creations aren't the fluffy feather creations are they? Can't remember seeing them. Bah humbug sulkies are an excellent idea thank you, my dad's like that! My dad actually suggested I do different occupations, teacher, police officer etc, which I also think would sell.
Not actually sure about prices as I don't think people would pay much more for them? I'm definitely not making a loss; Joey's one has cost more but OH said that can be called research money as I now know I can use acrylic paint with teeny brushes for the signs when I'd thought I'd need to print themwould love to find a Sculpey wholesaler but don't even know where to look!

I wondered that too, is it a bead with one hole for hat pins?oh well thats done it my hubby says bah humbug every christmas that will be three maybe i should order before your prices go up do you colour the clay before you bake or paint after. there is a shop where i am that would sell these
It's already coloured but I'm wondering if I could maybe use non-coloured to be cheaper and then paint, would look pretty much the same and avoid the annoying coloured flecks I seem to end up with. Red is terrible, the Jamie Sulkie has got it all over his white arms. Hehe yeah get 'em while they're cheap lol.
:rotfl:Batman on TV was using a hose to put out a fire and DD1 said 'Did you see Batman do a wee?' :rotfl:I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -
You should be pricing your time as well, though, Paula. If you just do it on materials you'll just make a few pence here and there. When I went to look I was surprised how cheap they were, so I think people would pay more, particularly for the bespoke ones. I'd start at £12 and see how it goes.0

A head pin is one with a long thin bit for threading the beads onto and a little flat bit at the end to stop them all falling straight off. Then you bend the end into a loop with pliers to attach it to whatever.
