Make a cakeAlmost always use mine for banana cake/bread - but saw this recipe from a blog I subscribe to - it's US so measures need to be converted - Banana Nut Cookies. Thought maybe I'd give them a try next time

Thank you for this link Kadeeae, I think I will have to try this recipe next time I have some bananas as it sounds lovely and a change from my usual banana loaf

Make a cakeYep, I've already scribbled the recipe down for future reference. i.e. the end of the week once those nanas in the kitchen are ready0

jeez - leftover or overripe bananas are such a rare occurence in my house i had to think hard - banana peels usually go in compost or - if i am planting a rose i make OH eat a banana then chuck the skin in the hole, plant the rose and fill in with dirt. i think i may have chucked in a rather ripe on once and the rose blossomed! literally! I dont like banana bread either - but, the definition of a ripe banana seems to change from house to house! my OH likes them when there is still a tinge of green on the skin, the grandkids will eat them unless they are slimy inside. personally i prefer them with brown spots but still firm.
oh and apparently -tho i havent tried this myself - the over ripe ones are perfect for barbecues.0 -
Make a smoothieSupermarkets sell them green these days and it's possible to buy them in varying shades of green-ness and eat as they ripen. According to the Today Programme Grodon Brown (aged 59 - it is alleged those over 57 waste the least) eats 9 a day. How is that possible??Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Eat it quicklyBananas seldom get a chance to rest in the fruit bowl here before the kids get to them but if there are some needing used up I just chop them up and add them to everyones cereal in the morning. i use the skins to clean my peace lilly and then compost it!I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0

Eat it quicklyI love over ripe bananas, I don't eat them until they're at least a bit speckly as find yellow ones are a bit tasteless. I do get a few funny looks at work when I have a manky looking banana sitting on the desk though
If I do have too many and can't eat them i'll make cake.
I did chuck one a couple of weeks ago though, i'd forgotten about it and it had gone too far and was starting to smell like perfume!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Eat it quicklyI like my bananas ripe, hate it when they are too firm. I chop them up & have them with yoghurt or ice cream, or make a smoothie.

Eat it quicklyI dehydrate about 3kgs at a time as banana chips, they're yummy. I also love them just as they are, minus the peel of course.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
