Is a live-in carer or supported living a better option than private flat with someone checking on him?[/Q
supported living is really hard to get been waiting years ,sadley everything comes down to funding and now am not doing his full time careing hopefully they will see what his needs are ,he spent last night in a b+b and today hes going to the salavation army as there really is no other options

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

    Hi bugbabe,

Does your son have learning difficulties or a learning disability? If it's a learning disability have you thought about contacting the Learning Disability Helpline run by Mencap? It's on 0808 808 1111.

They should be able to let you know what support you and your son are both entitled to.

Perhaps you could try talking to Mencap again and explain the desperate situation as it is now. Anything is worth a try. Don't give up.

If you have a carer's centre in your town, contact them for support. They may also know of somewhere that can house your son safely.
