Car Hire, 7 seats and a baby seat in Alicante

Cor blimey, this is a tricky one. I have been searching for a few days to find a decent, reputable and cheap car hire firm in Alicante airport.
We require a 7 seater car - 2 adults and 4 kids with 1 baby seat and 1 booster for 2 weeks in early august.
I have used Europcar before and they were good, but £960 for 2 weeks seems a little high. Next i searched on doyouspain.com, the price was better, £729, but i seem to get mixed reviews about them and was a bit put off with the pay for fuel up front and return empty policy.
Can anybody offer any other suggestions, or give me some confidence about doyouspain? Alternatively offer to have the kids for 2 weeks, so we can get a sporty 2 seater convertible!?
Thanks

A friend of mine was just quoted about £900 for a medium sized car for 3 weeks in July so around £900 for a MPV for 2 weeks doesn't sound wide of the mark.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I've been looking for a similar deal from Malaga for the begining of August and that sounds a decent price.
I'd love to know how you can guarantee a 7 seater though as some companies group scenics etc. in the same category and AFAIK you can't get a guarantee of the model you receive.
I've just looked at Economy Car Rental and they have decent prices but group Zafira's and Berlingo's in the same group!
Good luck!0 -
Just be aware that with most of the 7 seaters the extra seats are in the boot space meaning you wont have much room for any luggage which i am assuming with kids you will need ?
Might be worth looking at a 9 seater van ,although that wont be cheap either
I have used doyouspain a few times and all with no problems at all ,the fuel policy will more than likely be the same with them all unless you are renting for say a couple of days
Doyouspain dont charge you until the day of your rental by the way so might give you a bit of time to saveHave a nice day0 -
Thanks for the replies. I am aware of the 2 seats in the boot, we have a 7 seater at home. I will try doyouspain, they are £200 cheaper than Europacar.

i visited calpe last August for three weeks. We have flown into alicante three times in the last 3 years and normally use carjet as the broker, they give free all inclusive insurance, no excess. But last year I took my mam and dad with us, so in total we had 4 adults and two kids (10+6). So we needed a six seater, carjets quotes for a mini bus were too high so i booked with doyouspain. I did book up very early mind but it cost about £1000 for the three weeks.
After booking the voucher showed me the booking was made with Record Rent A Car, i hadnt heard of them. Previously through car jet we got Goldcar and Sol Mar, both brand new Ford C Max's. I was a bit dubious this time with taking my parents but everything went well.
The only big problem for me was the insurance excess. I turned down the insurance option they always try to sell you at the desk as I had insurance4carhire cover. They then took £1000 euros off my credit card as deposit to cover the excess (basically if I had an accident or damaged the car I would have to pay Record and then claim back from my insurance). Anyway I was uneasy about it but what can you do about it. The hassle was that upon returning to the airport at the end of the holiday I had to go back to the Record desk with my credit card and note from the drop off place to say the mini bus was ok. They refunded the £1000 straight away but still a hassle.
Car wise I got a shock, we ended up with a 9 seater mini bus. A Hyundai H1, never seen one before in this country but basically it was a converted van. It was virtually brand new though and was great to have all the space. No complaints about Record and the car, just the insurance excess.0
