Our health food shop sells better versions of pot noodles, without all the MSG and gunk. I haven't tried them, but they might work. What about seeds and dried fruit as snacks? They don't take up a lot of room, but are lovely. Bombay mix/trail mix etc would also be useful.Health food shops also have a wonderful yeast pate called tartex, in various flavours. Lovely on oatcakes or crackers, and although is maybe supposed to be refrigerated once opened, we never do. Its in a metal tube (bit like a bigger version of a toothpaste tube), so it seals shut easily and doesn't get contaminated. If I think of anything else, I'll get back to you!

Camping I haven't done for a very long time but here's a few of what we used to take

Tinned meats for sandwiches, preferably with ring pull tops (saved taking can opener), if you've got cooking facilities tin of beans mixed in with corned beef makes a nice toast/bread topper. Loaf of bread of course. Powdered milk and water if you want to have cereals. Little jars of jam or paste for on bread/toast. Packet soups. Breadsticks. Crackerbreads. Long life yoghurts/food you can get things like pots of rice pudding etc that don't need to be in the fridge.

The last time we went was many years back, we took a frozen HM chilli in a container, took it until the next afternoon to defrost properly and reheated it for tea.
One day I might be more organised...........

thanks kit_barbari.. that sounds yummy..... we are going up with our biker club.... and there is normally a member which has a gas cooker etc....

thanks lil-me great suggestions, will have to buy some of those ingredients in stratford.... and room in the back pack is VERY limited....last year i even managed to put some clothes down the front of my leather jacket...( spare t.shirt and knickers...lol.....)so as you can see its the packaging size i have to watch...

but i think for the thursday will take a packet of smash ( havent had that for years) and a tin of corned beef and a couple of sashets of tomato sauce... that we have spare from macdonlalds etc....

last year we did spend a fortune while we were away for the weekend.....and by the end of the weekend you just sick of 'fast expensive foods' even when were going out for brunch to try and get a 'proper meal' i am sure they hiked the prices up just for the weekend...lol....

Pasta ones a great idea, rice only if eating straight away if you want to play it safe, rice creates multiple bad things which can cause very upset tummies if just kept warm, last thing you need with portaloos/shared loos

    Hi cooltrikerchick.

I'm interested in your post as OH is starting to get stuff together so we can go camping on the bike and I havent been camping since - well probably 30 years ago! Also interested in what bike you have, as that will give me an indication as to some of the space I will have in comparison. OH has just bought a wing which I know has more space than most but I dont call it space!
    Cheers

when we went camping we took sachets of express rice, dearer than ordinary stuff but not too bad, and jars of sweet and sour sauce. You could decant the sauce into resealable freezer bags they would stay quite flat then. Maybe triple bag in case of leakage!
For brekkie there are always cereal bars , with a nice cuppa that would be spot on!

Have a fab weekend, hope weather stays fine for you

If they make you buy your alcohol in there (like at Glastonbury/Reading where they check your bag when you go into the arena) buy boxes of wine, get rid of the box and the foil bag it comes in with the tap can be easily hidden in among clothes in a bag. Then when you've had too much to drink it can be blown up and becomes a great place to rest your head!

Food - you can buy long life bread now I think. (got to go - have a good time.)
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

    hi...kaz... we have a kawasaki vn1500.....

we have a 6 man tent that we bought in asda which packed is like a 2 man tent..
which we bungie to the back along with a holdall of clothes and bits... we have 2 very short fold up stools which are a god send.....all doubled black bagged

in the panias one side takes 24 cans of larger a bottle of vodka and a few cans of red bull
in the other pania we put 2 sleeping bags wet weather gear ( if not being worn) and bits
plus a ruck sack on me.... which carries our ciggies and other bits that you need to get to quickly ( purse... mobile phones etc)

we dont camp in the general camping site.. where they do check your bags as you enter the main entertainment area... we camp well the best way to discribe it is in the entertainment area.. and they never check the bikes ....:D

the local rallies like the one we have just come back from a few hours ago you can take your own beer....
this is a photo of our bike... not very good as it was taken in the snow at the begining of the year....
