Ration packs which you can buy from some Army stores are the best - they don't taste brilliant but at least you know they've got all the calories, protein and nutrients you need for the day in them :D All can be eaten cold - and if anyone is veggie, they've actually started doing veggie ration packs now :D .
  • we have come back from v festival and we did what you are doing trying not to spend to much on food we took cans with the ring pull tops so didnt even need to use tin opener, bread, pringles, cereal bars, ready cooked frozen quiche was good for part of evening meal first night, boxes of red wine and cans of beer in a cool box, brandy can drink that with warm coke so was ok too. we managed to get cans of beer into the arena down the trousers round the front and wrapped in a top in a bag etc, we only brought food twice in the evening. hope you have a great time and manage not to spend to much money! lol.

  • bake a shedload of flapjacks/biscuits etc and take em all. Other than that, pasties all the way for a savoury choice that will keep.

We only have a bath! You're welcome to join the queue of extended family that we never knew we had which descend on us this time of year.

I'd offer to hose you down in the garden, but I'd probably get arrested for wasting water. :p

    Hi shoppergal,

Loads of great ideas on here. Just been to V and did take our own food (although we weren't camping) - got to say that the food selection there this year was much better than in the past. What we found was that the stalls nearer the main entrance and the main stages were much more expensive (probably paid more for their pitch) but further away there were some really interesting / different food stalls where the food prices really weren't too bad - so as Gingham Ribbon says it's a good idea to have a hot meal especially in the evening, but just check the stalls out first.

We took our box (minus the box!!!) of wine (4th time running) it never fails - and loads of others were doing it too. I put mine in my coat pocket in my bag (I had a waterproof that pulls over your head with a big front pocket).

Take a good mix with you of fruit, nuts, cereal bars, biscuits, crisps, breads, initially sandwiches and pasties and tinned stuff (which you can always take home with you if you don't fancy it). The mix should mean that you won't get tired of it.

I took a bottle of made up squash with me and because the seal was broken they wouldn't let me in with it - I didn't mind I just threw it away. I kept the bottle though and filled it with water (there were taps for this).

V this year was stricter on the size of bottled drinks allowed in (only up to 1 litre).

    Enjoy!

Great! Will you go round and feed my veggie sister? Stewards' camping area, long black hair, purple DMs and a zillion earrings - can't miss her :D .
    Thanks!

we are going to the bulldog bash on thursday... until sunday.. its a big biker festival in stratford....

but as with all festival food is very expensive....

we have very and i mwan VERY limited space, as we go on the bike.. so tent, sleeping bags spare clothes etc... have to be taken... oh ye the most important the BEER!!!!!!

i need any suggestions on food to take which will not go off without being put into a fridge etc.... which is not going to take upe much room..... and will be filling.....

i used to take pot noodles... bananas ( great for hangovers )pack of biscuits etc.....but when its time to eat them on the festivals... i'm thinking its the same boring food again....( plus to be honest i dont really like the idea of eating them becuase of all the additives etc....
