Does anyone know anything about the new offers from plusnet, they seem to be doing broadband and a phone line for £25 with no download cap (Talk Talk is no use to me as i do 40GB in a week)

I think you need to make some more enquires as the website says:
No fixed download limits - slightly different from no download limits or unlimited, methinks!!
My understanding is they do have download limits at peak times, ie evenings.
Also check out the boards at adslguide boards - a lot of moans in more recent times about reliability inc a recent serious outrange on emails.
Personally, was considering them, and I'm not bothered about download limits, but I'll give them a miss ATM.0 -
I've just left plusnet because they're !!!! :T
THey have a stupid 3GB limit (now increased to 4.5GB for NEW customers only) which is enforced for all your activities within 8am-12midnight daily. They said to me that it was 4pm-midnight but it was always set to 8am-12midnight.
Their "unlimited" usage is between midnight and 8am. So if you're a night owl then this is for you.
Their customer service is overly complicated as is their website - it is impossible to find what you want on their site - try it yourself if you don't believe me! You can login as username guest and password guest and witness the mess for yourself
Hope you don't go for these muppets. Check out Eclipse Internet - Evolution Package. Sorry don't have a link for you
try google it will be near the top
Hope this helps

Crabman,
Their website for Plus - £14.99pm + £11 for calls if you want them [£26 not £25 as stevetech thinks] says:
Broadband Plus is not suitable for data-intensive applications such as file-sharing and large downloads. Broadband Plus is designed for 3GB usage at peak times (4pm - midnight) per month.
Talk about left hand not knowing .... :rotfl:
Did you consider MAAF or is their DL limit too restrictive for you?0 -
3gb a month during peak times is even less use than talk talk, at least demon are giving me a free upgrade to 4mb0

Do not touch PN with a barge pole if you want to keep your sanity!!!! Their customer service is a joke, you can not get through on the phone and their online system takes forever as they never actually answer any questions you send them. Also they are having major problems with their own VOIP service, lost 700gb of customers mail the other week, are transferring people to LLU service without telling them - then their connections are not working and they are not dealing with the problems. Their marketing director wrote a post on ADSL guide a couple of days ago that basically slated anyone who had left or was thinking of leaving. Their share price has dropped by over 50% in the last 3 months.
I think the above is a fairly accurate description of what is going on with PN at the moment, but you can always have a look at their own forums, you used to be able to log in and view them as a guest, I think you use the username guest and password guest, or have a look on the forums of ADSL guide to see just how they are treating their customers at the moment.

I was thinking of moving phone to plusnet (already with them for broadband) but calls with talktalk are 67 a month !!!
does anyone know what exactly the £11 is for, line rental? and then charged extra for calls?
but I moved to TalkTalk from BT for line rental in january this year so will I have to pay to move to Plusnet?__________________0 -
What benefit are you getting from Plusnet?Josie64 wrote:I was thinking of moving phone to plusnet (already with them for broadband) but calls with talktalk are 67 a month !!!

No you shouldn't have to pay for the move of line rental - you've stayed with TalkTalk for the minimum 3 months so you are free to move :T though make sure Plusnet are giving you free landline calls or something - otherwise go for the Primus option as per Martin's article

If you enjoy pain, being ripped off, lied to and generally screwed around, I could not recomend PN highly enough.
They are a nightmare.
I foolishly joined and lived to regret not joiining TalkTalk.
They have a telephone number, but no one answers, its their way of saying 'we value your business'.0
