I'm looking for a 5mp camera phone, cheap as poss'
I'm not up on mobile phones, so I don't know what's out there. I went into Carphone warehouse the other day. I was shown three 5 MP phones. One was the Samsung 5560. Another was a smaller Nokia (can't remember the number). The third I can't remember at all. I was given a magazine & thought the 3 would be in it but only the Samsung is in it. Is the Samsung any good are there better, if you know the Nokia model, is it any good? I want to spend less that £150-00 (unless something fantastic is a little more). They are all PAYG. Not sure if they were tied though.
Nice to save.

I've used the samsung 5560, at £140 with £10 top up. Its quite good! (from e2save etc). Only thing lacking is the 3g side, depending if you want to use video calling or go on the internet faster. otherwise i think its really good!
The next one up is like a samsung jet, which is about £200 but its basically the same phone but got the 3g side with extra front camera and an extra LED flash (its dual LED).
Theres a samsung tocco F480, which is a capacitive touch screen with less features than the samsung jet... as in the wifi/gps bit.0 -

If you are looking to spend £200, i can suggest Sony ericsson W995...
8mp and flash. (but its not a touch screen, its a slider and i remember p4u used to sell it for £200 and need a £10 top up, so £210)
-nokia 6600i slide, 5mp cam, flash... front camera... but no wifi
note: dont buy a samsung ultra-touch s8300... it has bad reviews.0 -
Why do you *need* 5MP?
A cameras quality is not dependant on it's MP count - the quality of the lens is much much more important.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -

You are right, I am into photography & have a DSLR & a few decent lenses, so I know what you are saying, however if you have a good lens then more MP (not too many) will allow better cropping etc & of course will improve the photo. However I know its a phone & I have a 3.2 Sony ericson, it is about 2 years old & I wanted to upgrade so both lens & MP is important to me, of course after 2 years I would expect to get more MP & maybe a better or good lens.
The Sony ericsson W995. may be of interest as recommended by PotatoPotato.Nice to save.0 -
I've had Samsung G600 for a couple of years - 5MP camera as well as other features.

no offence but i've had the samsung g600 for 18 months, i would not recommend it for a camera phone. (I loved it for all the other "normal" phone features)
Firstly the shutter lag was extremely long! if you are only taking still photos, then maybe the phone is acceptable.
But i've tried the phones i've suggested and with the G600 you must have some steady hands for a good few secs too since the auto focus takes the P***!. The next longest seems to be the Jet..... but i havent tried the Jet that long, only 2 photos and it has been a while now.0 -
Horses for courses, isn't it?
I'd rather keep £100 in my pocket and keep my hands still for 1 secondWho made hogs and dogs and frogs?
