no chain - how long roughly

There is a house that has no chain and I am a first time buyer.

I was wondering roughly how long the process can take from making an offer to completion?

    6 to 8 weeks as a general rule, could be longer or shorted depending on how everything goes!

    Can take 4 weeks if really lucky, a few months if you are not and the average, as has been said, is around 8 weeks.

    Mine took 3 months.

    I was FTB, property was empty as owner had moved into a new house he had built himself.

    Owner was totally un-proactive as he was utterly useless with any sort of paperwork or arrangements and didn't really have any compulsion to get it done - it would probably have taken longer had I not kept kicking the agent and solicitor!

    It has in my experience:
    I've paid cash for repos, I've sold vacant houses to people with no chain, I've been part of a chain; always close to 13 weeks give or take.

    The best I've done was a single day, but that was in Switzerland, so a different regime

    We accepted an offer late November from a FTB and moved into rented on New Years Eve. Not sure of exact date of offer but it was pushed through really fast to beat stamp duty threshold change!

    We were "lucky" though as our first attempt at selling fell through in August and the failed buyer's solicitor raised any question they could, so my solicitor had all the info needed on my property on file already.

    I think ours was just over 5 weeks from offer to completion with Xmas inbetween! (Edit: Just checked back the selling in difficult times post - we accepted the offer on 27th November and moved on 31st Dec!)

    Depends on how swift all parties involved are. I have a property being processed at the moment. Conveyancer got all the paperwork on 18th Feb from sellers solicitor.(his reply) As of today I have received nothing from my conveyancer ....:mad:
