Hi

I want to change the signature of my photocard driving licence so that it matches the one on my passport (one contains my first name, the other only has an initial).

Does anybody know how I go about this?

Cheers

I shouldn't bother............it will probably cost you ..........and when was the last time anyone looked at your signature on either document?

You will probably end up having to pay £20 for this.... can you wait until you update your photo for the £20 fee? I would image that both would be updated then.

The reason for this is I will have to send both my passport and driving licence as ID to an online gaming site, I'm just concerned they may start trouble if the two signatures don't match.

I'm not bothered about the cost, it will need renewing later this year anyway. So my question now is, can I renew it 6 months before the expiry date?
  • I'd be interested in this too. My driving licence has the signature of my 17-year-old self on it which is quite different to my signature nowadays!

I don't mind paying £20 to do it, but does anyone know which form I use to go about it? (I don't need to change my photo for a few years yet)

I dont know what site you are joining but personally I would not send anyone like this copies of my passport and driving licence.

I wouldn't bother myself but all the information about new or updated licences is here

There doesn't seem to be an option for changing signature but maybe you could do it as a change of photo, which does cost £20.

I have tried this before. They did not change my signature which is completely different these days and as my main form on ID I think its important to have things upto date as I'm sure many of you do.

I need to get a new one this week so am opting to call the offices and explain to a human. I would not recommend just filling out the paperwork and sign it with your new signature and send it off.

    will try and report back.

Surprised it seems hard to do this - when I bought a car on finance the garage insisted they were supplied with a card they could match with the signature on my driving licence when sending the finance company proof of ID.
  • I've been looking around to try and find an answer to this problem as I need to change address and my signature has changed. In the end I called DVLA too. The guy recommended picking up a D1 form from the post office. For me I need to fill out the change of address section and also apparently 'section 7' which is the signature box. He also said to write a note to go with the form just saying that the signature has changed, other wise they may over look it. Also asked about cost and it's free!

Hope this is a help to anyone with a similar problem.

Off to the post office now!
