    OP - have just read through this thread. Don't know what line of work you are in but my sister and b in law are in the pub trade and always complain about their payrises which never achieve their expectations despite the company promises about reaching targets etc. The targets always seem to "change" at the last minute and they "just fall below target" depite having made fantastic changes and improvements over the 2 years they have been with their present company. Sorry if this is not you situation, but I can appreciate how you feel. I work in Local Government with a decent pay but minimum pay rises (despite what the press say) so can see it from both spectrums.
