Dear Wendy and other guys in forum,
Thanks for raising this question which caused creative answers.
I am also about to get installed a conservatory in few month (maybe in summer), but have no clue about the prices. May I ask how much would it cost for you to install a conservatory like that.
Anybody knows about one or two good companies with reasonable price and good service?
Thanks all,0 -
Mine is 22ft by 12 ft. White on the inside, brown on the outside, two fans and lights, four double sockets and french doors from the house. Cost £13,333. I used B & S Quality based in Preston, Lancashire. I would definately say go on recommendations as my mum worked for trading standards for many years. Double glazing, conservatories and carpets were the bulk of their complaints!!Wendy0

We have recently purchased a Delonghi 3kw oil filled heater for our conservatory which heats the conservatory fine.
DOWNSIDE the ruddy thing we have found out since costs nearly £4.00 PER DAY to run. DOH!!!!0 -
Our conservatory id 4mts x 4mts and we use a modern oil filled radiator. Ours seems economical, is compact and has a timer and thermostat built in. I do not see why you really need anything else -we use ours all yr round. No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20

I thought they cost between 2p and 4p an hour to run so should cost about 40p for a 10 hour day.Wendy0

I have been reliably informed that the sun is coming Sarah !!, so hopefully this will illuminate your windows and heat your conservatory for free.
Not sure if your maths is correct though. £4.00 seems a bit steep !If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Malestrom wrote:We will have to agree to disagree on this, its not adding anything to the thread and not assisting the OP in any way. My personal recommendation is still a form of underfloor heating, you have a different view. The OP has more choices now than they had before, which was the point of their original post.
You have avoided the question completely.
If your underfloor heating has been on for a few hours i.e up to operating temperature, and the sun comes out and beams in through the glass heating the room, so as to become uncomfortable.
How are you going to turn down the temperature quickly ?If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Fine, I withdraw my earlier post suggesting that anyone might think about using underfloor heating in a conservatory, due to the lack of immediate temperature regulation that is inherent in its design.
There you go robowen, I hope that will suffice. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0 -

I think your idea Malestrom was quite valid, why should you withdraw your suggestion, it was in fact only a suggestion and the more ideas the merrier.
I have had a conservatory for 10 years and I use a electric heater and sometimes I use a calor gas heater which is especially cosy in the winter, as for the winter sun I can assure you in a conservatory it does NOT get that hot. It can also be terribly cool in summer when we are not having very good weather.
I do like the idea of the heated mats that go under rugs too.;)
Do you yourself have a conservatory robowen.0
