NTL services without an NTL phone line?

NTL currently have a 2 for £20/month offer on their homepage - select pack TV and 1MB broadband. This is perfect for me and my bf, since we are not allowed to change the phone provider in our rented flat (we've just moved in). Most of the NTL products say you have to also get an NTL phone line in the small print - but it wasn't clear for this particular offer, so my bf rang up and they said no, you didn't have to change to an NTL phone line to get this offer.

But everything I've ever heard about NTL, says you have to take their phone service? I will ring them again tomorrow and check before we order it, but I'm just a bit worried that some kid at NTL might be giving us the wrong advice and we won't realise til everythings installed...

Does anyone know about this? Thanks in advance.:o

    Which clearly says you must have a NTL Phone Line if your an existing customer.So as your not you should qualify for offer.

Existing customers taking an additional product (subject to status and credit checks) should call 0800 183 0123. This offer is only available to existing customers who have a phone line as their only service. Customers must retain their phone line to be eligible for this offer. Existing customers who already have digital TV or Broadband are not eligible to take this offer. After 12 months standard prices apply (currently £23.49 per month). Customers must take both services included in this offer for at least 12 months. If you change any part of the package, standard prices apply. May not be used in conjunction with any other offer."

    thanks mobilegossip. That is how I interpreted that paragraph as well but the sentence

    is kind of ambiguous: does it mean

    "The only people this offer is available to is existing customers who have a phone line as their only service"

    or

    "The only existing customers this offer is available to are those whose only NTL service is a phone line".

    So I agree with you that it is the second one.
    Thanks for the reassurance, I'm happy to have found a provider we can get... we aren't allowed to put up a sky dish and my bf just HAS to have sky sports. I was despairing!
