Overcharged by Telediscount .. ?

Options
Hi all,

I've been using Telediscount for my international calls to Eastern Europe
from landline and it was OK, without problems.

Recently I used it from my BT Mobile number, calling their premium 0911 5011 150, which is advertised as 15p/min.

I knew about mobile surcharges, but how big I was surprised to discover I got one minute priced at 65p !! I called BT mobile and they told me they have nothing to do with such charges and premium number operators bill them for those calls, minimum 62 p/min ("rate 1" which i got).

I wrote to telediscount (as they dont offer any other ways to reach them) and they obviously did not reply.

Please advice who is lying and whom I should kick !!!!!!?

And be aware of using Telediscount as by their silence I assume they know truth..

You would only have been charged 15p/min if you'd used a landline!

There is a warning on the telediscount site about the possibilty of paying more if you use a mobile.

"We advise you to get in touch with your mobile phone provider to double check their rates to our access numbers"
  • Well, I understand "more" not as 4 times more.. maybe it's my fault.. :)

But telediscount also say: "... their rates to our access numbers ... ", while
BT mobile told me those rates are access number rates. So it is Telediscount who really getting profit, not mobile operators.

Thus, I am trying to find out who exactly charged me. That is the question.

You have been charged by BTmobile. Any number beginning "09xxx" is signalled as a premium rate one, and you've been unlucky in not knowing about this before making the calls. Unfortunately the boys and girls in BTM's call centre in Belfast probably wouldn't have been able to tell you anyway, even if you'd called and asked. It's worth calling them on 150 and playing your violin but I don't think you can expect too much joy.
