looking to change AOL broadband, but never had paper work on account number etc.

i set up home broadband via carphonewarehouse 24months ago soon with aol and free laptop deal.

as it is coming to end of contract looking to move on to something cheaper or if there are other free laptop deals about.

but who do i contact aol, carphonewarehouse etc.? i've not recieved any paperwork, bill for ages and not i can remember i have had so. bill just comes out of my bank account.

i understand i'll need MAC code. any advice?

You call AOL for your MAC code, that's all you need from them.
You should be able to check your bills via your AOL online account.
There is no 'free' laptop (as my sig mentions).

If they need something from you, use your username or telephone number - they should be able to find your account that way

Not without knowing your exchange.
Broadband is exchange specific.
https://www.samknows.co, then exchange search. Look for your LLU options, these will be the best deals.
