I don't know what to do with electric based toys that charity shops will not take. Freegle I guess given my aversion to selling stuff.

Do you have an Emmaus (Catholic charity shop)? They will take them, test them and sell them. At least they do here in Gloucestershire.;)

    Hi all,

I really need to get sorted as my move house in 2 weeks this weekend and I've not really started  I really should be able to declutter as I'm not flying at the moment either

I need to declutter the whole house before I can think about packing as I am not taking anything that I no longer use to the new place!

Do I have to use the list on here or can I make my own list?? I think I need a kick up the rear end / motivation rather than a list IYSWIM?

Sarah - you can post any list you like. The lists were simply to provide 'inspiration and focus' nothing more.

Good luck a whole house is a big declutter!

Took the bag of rags to the charity bin and a couple of bits to the scrap store but that is it for today.

Builder has decluttered part of an internal wall, now what day can I claim that under Jassa?

have done another shredder binfull this afternoon - paper bin gets emptied tomorrow so i like to make sure its full. I am getting better at this de-cluttering i think!

sarah you need to get cracking angel - start with the worst bits while you have the inclinantion (if not the motivation) - would that be toys? and then maybe clothes - just get stuck into cupboards get them sorted - are you packing yourseves? if you are then declutter and pack at the same time -if a company is packing for you then systematically go through each room and sort / declutter/ putaway so that its all in the room it should be.

make a daily list so you dont get too disheartened but also work backwards from the moving day making a note of what you need to do when.

have decluttered my tea and now going to see if there are any magazines I can part with

:rotfl:I know I've been creative, but I can't think of any anniversary that could cover that one! (Unless you needed an RSJ to hold things up, so you could claim under Steel Friday!!! YAY!!)

Today has been really difficult to complete, but so far...
Target of 5 items to be decluttered (how come I seem to be buying replacements though?)

    Tin/Aluminium Thursday - DONE (:o)
    • 1 biscuit tin thrown as it was badly pitted inside and I was always lining it with kitchen towel - will need to get another one or give up biscuits
    • 1 Quality Street tin (used as cake tin)thrown as it was badly dented
    • tins of food tidied yesterday with Flylady kitchen day, but 1 nearly OOD tin of caramel stuff used for bannoffe (sp?) pie
    • 4 tealights replaced (thank you Dusty for that one!) but also found loads of other candles that I've had for years that need using up
    • 1 tin shoe polish used up
    • 1 tin of mustard powder thrown from herb/spice boxes - probably older than my kids (I'm a granny, so that gives you an idea of how OOD it probably was)
    • DH sorted some gibble out of a tin on his DIY shelf
    • tins in sewing box tidied (they are so pretty and no way will they be thrown)
Got a kilner-style glass jar to replace the sugar cannister thrown before - might get a couple more. Not got a clue how I'm going to do Steel Friday.

Hope everyone is OK and I wish I had some gold.

Jassa - that is your best list yet - well done!

I've sorted the toys that needed doing in the living room.

I now have a couple of bits to list on ebay at the weekend.

I need to update my list to see what is left.
