Iphone?? To stay on O2 or not??

Hello,

I have a few questions about the Iphone. I recently bought one off a work collegue(2g '8gb model, good con'd for £100 which i took a gamble was a good buy). It is locked to O2 i assume, and i need to get a new sim.

Should i stick with O2 and get one of these simplicity contracts? If so what do i then need do.... do i simply pop it in my phone or is there actions that must be taken.

Also, i am overseas fairly regulary and my current phone in unlocked? Is it easy to unlock the iphone? I can see that you can do so online with o2 however the request form requires details that i dont have such as previous contract sim number linked to the phone... I dont want to go back to my collegue whom i bought it from and ask her what her family members old number was for this phone. Is there another route to unlocking it.

Any advice would be great...

Called O2 today. Not much help... they said i had to get a sim only contract, as a PAYG O2 sim would not host all the iphone features. Is this true??

You'd lose visual voicemail and free wi-fi hotspots, no biggie if you don't mind losing them.
